This question requires a definition of "time" to be answered well.

Time, wether defined using the Bible or Science (refer to the works of St. Augustineany and/or any good book on cosmology/ Relativity) is intrinsically tied to the very fabric of the universe and has a beginning at the very start of the universe--creation/big bang (Bible/Science). Time therefore, is not independent of the universe but is a property of it. God, having created the universe (for those with interest in science lets just say having caused the big-bang to happen), is outside of Time and therefore, is not subject to it. However, all that's within the universe is subject to time. The simple answer to the question is God has no beginning because He is outside of Time as we perceive it. This is why God can say He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow because he is not subject to this property of the universe.

This answer however, can lead to another question which is: Does God have His own Time or its equivalent to which He is subjected? The answer is two-fold. One, we can never know because we can't peep from inside the universe to look what's outside. Second, the very definition of what God(all powerful, all knowing) will collapse if there is something that limits him. Therefore this second question is invalid in view of how we perceive God.

Good question Bree, even if some of these people are cranky pants!
If you believe in God, then you have to believe in faith. Because there are certain things in this world that I think can only be explained using faith. Why do some people who have a terrible accident and should have died in it still be alive. Or people who are deathly ill but none the less, live. See what I mean?
You keep thinking about important things like God and you will lead a blessed life.

This is one of the EASY questions.

God existed BEFORE creation so there was NOTHING ELSE. NOTHING. Just HIM. There was NO TIME. How can you have Time if you only have 1 thing. It takes 2 items or more to have time, in order to have something to compare too. Also, God exists outside our frame of reference. We can't even imagine the Universe we live in, much less the Heaven God exists in (which was "created" for Him) so He existed BEFORE HEAVEN and outisde of it. So from that reference, He has no definate involvement (i.e., he's not made from the material our universe is made out of) although He used the Holy Spirit to Fashion our Universe. Since He exists with no beginning compared to our universe (how can you measure time, when there was no time, how much "time" passed before He created time?" God isn't saying, because its just a stupid question (sorry) its just not important even if we knew what would we do with the answer? Nothing. Since our Universe doesn't effect his healthy or life, he will always be, so eternity to Him is, well, lol, NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. But we don't think that way, do we?

do not compare or imagine the god with this materialistic things. according to believe of Muslims "The lord, the master, the god says i was hiden treasure so i want to reveal my-self so i have created the creation.

so there is no need for the god to have a beginning.
creations only need beginning and an end. but among the creations man is best creation so he will again to reawakens and he will be for ever and ever in good place or an evil place(hell)if he didn't acted in this world according to the will of god

Draw a nice big circle on a piece of paper. Now draw another circle inside the first, so that the two do not touch. Finally, draw a third circle inside the second one.

The smallest circle represents your current level of knowledge. The middle circle represents the limit of mankind's knowledge. What if the outside circle represents the MINIMUM amount of knowledge required to fully comprehend, understand, and recognize God?

Remember, a true God would have to be unbound by time. 'Begin'and 'End' areterms that only apply to time. The existence of a universe just demands the existence of a God. The 'why' of God being there could be said to be the ultimate mystery.

how was god not their, if something exploded in the beginning then that was not nothing. it was not 0 that exploded. but something.... nothing is 0,,, the something that brought all into the cycle of the living even if it exploded had to have a something it was not simply a 0.. a 0 is nothing so their is a something and it is that something you need to seek not faith. faith is blind . teaching of .humans control . seek the truth and the light will show you the beginning, . god wants us to know, and yes we can ask all we want it is written ask and it shall be given seek and you will find , to be told we are not to ask who or what god is is to say we are not god created. why would god create us with the mind of endless knowledge if he /she did not want us to know . we are to know and you can ask , and you can find, keep looking reach inward you will find i promise you ,, i do know you will find ,,, the truth.. and the truth is not is not blind faith,,,,,,,

Stop asking priest or any human for that matter, they don't know... you will find no answers...put your faith in God and he will show you someday (it is called patience) ...it is not for us to know in this life because the information is too overwelming and beyond our comprehension. Just let it be for now and don't drive yourself crazy like I did thinking about all those questions... it is too big...too much. Only god has the answers, ask him.

This comes from ancient Greek philosophy, and the concept of 'First Cause'. Working backwards through a chain of cause-and-effect, they would reach a point where they could not identify a cause. At that point, they would declare 'god' as the cause. This really is not a proof of god... it is really just a proof of their reasoning ability. The REAL answer when you reach the end of the cause-and-effect chain is "We don't know... yet."

The most famous of the 'first cause' provers of God was the philosopher St. Thomas Aquinas (“Proof of God’s Existence” (The Summa Theologica)). St Thomas (1225-1274) was one of the greatest philosophers of the middle ages.

To quote Robert Paul Wolff (“Ten Great Works of Philosophy”, Mentor Books, ©1969), “In all places, at all times, men have believed in the existence of gods. But it is one thing to believe and another to know. For the rationalists of the middle ages, belief alone was not enough. As theologians and philosophers, they sought the proof of reason.”

Ancient Greek philosophy contained a number of demonstrations of the existence of a supreme being (or beings). Some appealed to the order and purpose of nature, some to the necessity of a “first cause”, to which the universe could be traced. Early Christian philosophers borrowed from the Graeco-Roman tradition in an attempt to develop a philosophical basis for their beliefs. Among Aquinas’ five proofs are several which can be traced to Aristotle and all of them, in one way or another, rely upon Aristotle’s notions of form, matter (earth, air, fire, water), actuality and potentiality.

Moving on through the middle ages, we come to William of Ockham (1285-1349), known today for “Ockham’s Razor”. It was typical of Ockham not to be too impressed with the ability of human reason to reach the truth. For him, philosophy must often be content with probable arguments, for example, in establishing the existence of a Christian God. In other words, a “philosophical proof” is an oxymoron, a contradiction in terms. A philosophical proof, such as Ms. Martin’s (and St. Thomas Aquinas’) citation of “First Cause”, proves nothing.

In other words, the philosophical concept of 'First Cause' provides us with the historical roots of the modern expression: "If you can't blind them with science, then baffle them with bullsh*t."
