i find it hard to believe that god would make the middle east the "holy land" or "the promised land". there is nothing but desert. don't you think that the holy land would at least have some trees, and grass? not just dirt as far as the eye can see. if someone "promised" me a great land, and it turned out to be just sand, i'd be a little upset. i tend to believe that if there is a holy land or promise land, that it would at least have food...maybe...the promise land is AMERICA!!!

Aren't we awaiting Christ's return and THATS when everyone will be judged and decided upon who is going to Heaven or not? So if we are awaiting Christ's return, what is happening to all those that have passed? At funeral masses we are told that they are joining Christ in Heaven, but if we are awaiting His return, wouldn't that mean they are all really in Purgatory and thats where all of us are headed?

I'm totally not bashing or anything like it. Just a few questions so that I can understand better whenever I need to answer a question.
What is it exactly that you believe? that there is no God? or there's no proof but he could? or what?
And also: what else are your beliefs? (Idol worshiping, no afterlife, spirits/ghosts, etc.)

for the record, what i hate are those who hate aethiests without knowing that they themselves are practical aethiests, if i were christian id leave everything behind and follow christ like ignatius of loyola, which is idealy what ALL christians should do, carry their crosses in one way or another. but im not, as i recognize the facf that i cannot.simply give all my possessions and live a strictly simple life, and to give more than i recieve, because then il be broke unless everyone else is into this ****.
i just hate the thought that witht he numbers of christians in the world, if every christian acted like christ, if they put christ's example and teachings above personal and social measures, all day every day, which is again, how it ought to be, then there would be no need for me to type this up.
if more than half of the world gave more than recieved more, then there would be more to go around. but this is all both idealistic and utopic.
and where is the church in all this?

If Jesus is god and god impregnated Mary then Jesus impregnated Mary. Which means he knocked her up to create himself. Either way, that's incest.

An experience during infancy has resulted in a profound effect on my life as I grew to adulthood. I have always remained curious if any others have had unexplainable experiences from this location effect them long term, especially if they had no control in the initial introduction (i.e. they were not seeking their experience)?

saying that creationism is simply a myth and compared it to Greek, Scandinavian, and Native American mythology vouching that such myths shouldn't be taught in school. But these comparison are taught in school. So shouldn't creationism be taught along side with every other teaching? Please explain why or why not.

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your belief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith larger than a mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall not move; and everything shall be impossible unto you.

I have read several articles and other things that talk about the past, present, and future in terms of years. If the vast majority of scientists don't believe that God created the universe why would they believe in Jesus?

If BC means before christ and AD means after death why use them if their beliefs lead elseware? I understand that these acronyms have been used for a long time. With that being said it would be hard to change the worlds view on this.

So who first thought of using BC/AD as a way to define years? Could this person have been religious and among the community it took hold? I am religious and so I am just curious.

Why wouldn't time just begin and continue. It starts and then it stops on a year, and from then on is called AD. So After death, Wow! Someone must have been important to consider all years from the point of his death to AD. The points before that are also noticed as the came before he did.

Anyone want to expand or speak your peace?
