Acts 2:27 refers to a prophecy concerning Jesus that 'he would not be left in hell'. To understand what is meant here, you have to understand what hell really is.
Hell is nothing more than the grave. Hell is not a place of eternal suffering, nor is it seperation from God. After all, if Jesus was in hell like the scripture says, would he be seperated from God's love. Hell is nothing more than the grave. God resurrected Jesus from the grave, or hell, after 3 days (Acts 2:24). Note that Jesus was resurrected by God. If Jesus were God, he couldn't have died since God is immortal. Therefore, Jesus isn't God.

Probably to go see who paganised the monotheistic religion from being the prophet of God to son of God, or God Himself. The Bible is full of Islamic prophesies. One that I recall is in genesis ~from the seed of Ishmael I will create a great nation and from him 12 princes will be descendant of. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was the only one to claim to be from prophet Ishmael plus he had 12 righteous descendants, as also stated in bukhari. The Bible also says that false prophets will not be successful but in the not to far off future, Islam will be the largest religion in this planet. Plus prophet Abraham and prophet Ishmael build the Kaba, and prophet Ishmael is buried there beside the building. Note, prophet Jesus did not have a father and was born of a Virgin Mary with the spirit, but prophet Adam had neither a mother or father and was made of the spirit without any previous human connection. If prophet Jesus brought the dead person to life, prophet Moses brought an inanimate piece of wood into a snake which is more miraculous. What is the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)? A Book, the Holy Qur'an, unchanged with proof for 1400 years, what other book can claim this? And if you think it was just good book keeping, there is a verse there claiming that God will protect the Holy Qur'an from any changes. Also the banned Bible according to St. Barnabas clearly states that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will come after prophet Jesus.

Both Will and TheGreat come closest. Dr Barnhouse a noted 19th century pastor called the place of deceased spirits East Hell and West Hell. This idea for this place came out of a teaching Jesus gave us in the Rich man and Lazerth story. After their deaths the rich man found himself in a torment and Lazerth comforted in Abraham's bosom. There was a wide gulf fix between them that no one could cross. There in East Hell Jesus took the captive away to Paradise and proclaimed across the gulf his victory over death telling those damned in hell that those who had trusted in God are the righteous and the untrusting will remain in their agony until the dead are called forth for judgment at the end of the age.

Not hell, maybe Hades. Not sure if these were spirits of past generations hearing good news of Gospels for first time or the fallen spirits who were on earth from before Noah's flood who disobeyed by having relations with humans, to offer them repentance and to come back to God. I kinda favor the fallen spirits of Noah's time, but need to research and study this one more. None the less, he did go.
1 Peter 3
18For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19through whom[d] also he went and preached to the spirits in prison 20who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built.

Jesus went to hell after he was killed on the cross. Only for three days though. He went to hell because he was paying for every sin for all of the past, present, and future believers of him. After his three days of Hell he was risen from the dead and lived for 40 days on earth. He was able to be seen and touched but he could walk through walls. Jesus even had meals with these people because he could still eat. After 40 days he was brought up into heaven where he will live with God forever.

There are arguments that Jesus went to either Limbo or Purgotory to get the souls of the OT folks like Adam and Moses.

According to some of the scriptures, (lost books of the bible), he went to hell after he dies and before he ascended, to collect all the souls of the righteous that were in hell. Everyone was in hell prior to his death except for Elijah and the thief on the cross that asked him to take him to heaven. When Jesus got to hell they were all there including Adam. He took them to heaven and Elijah and the thief were there waiting to great them.
