Zeitgeist Explained (? hardly)

zeit·geist | Pronunciation: 'tsIt-"gIst, 'zIt | Function: noun | Etymology: German, from Zeit (time) + Geist (spirit) | Date: 1884 | Meaning: the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era. "Google" explanation of Zeitgeist.

Here is a site with sort of a decent interpretation of Zeitgeist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeitgeist

Here is another site of trends in various countries: http://www.google.com/intl/en/press/intl-zeitgeist.html#pl This is the lighter side of the terminology.

Here's a good qoute:
Besides, the zeitgeist seems to be working against any hope of Hormel officials to limit...the usage of [the word] 'spam' on the Web.-- Gracious Concession on Internet 'Spam', New York Times, August 17, 1998

Zeitgeist can be considered the experience of a dominant cultural climate in defining an era of a people (of the dominant culture) or the world at large. (Paraphrased)

Considering the world conflicts occuring at this time, being a Zeitgeist can be deadly.

One past Zeitgeist would be Germany's ex-Chancellor Hitler.

If one takes a look at the definition of Zeitgeist, it would appear we are all members of a group intellect in relation to time. So if we engage in the "Spirit of the Times" we are participants knowingly or unknowingly.

ZEITGEISTS as to some is "Spirit of the Time". I guess it is a german word, but I don't know really. well if its meaning is "Spirit of the time" that means, time can be redeemed. since it is a spirit, he can go back from time to time. Maybe the old saying "history repeats itself" borrowed from this meaning.

I believe the Bible once said this too - "Redeeming the time becasue the days are evil"

chaotic blak said "this phenomenon occurs only to people who have inner deep 'NEED' excavating the traditional religious certainties and even historical facts"

I firmly believe that the prophecy in the bible is coming true today, exchanging the wisdom of men rather than the truth of God. If you want to proved something you have to dig deeper to find its roots no matter how deep it is.

your question need a lot of polish. What are you trying to discover? I think you really mean iconoclast: a person who attacks cherished beliefs or institutions.

Is that right?
;-D Why bother?
