Well, God has a plan. They asked to be put into the herd of swine. Jesus allowed it. See the point? The demons couldn't even make a move without His very approval. The question misses the overall view. They could do nothing apart from His power. And they knew it. Jesus was demonstrating His power over the very forces of Hell. They will "get theirs" in due time, so to speak.

Another classic case of words without knowledge.
Everyone believes that the devil and all of the demons of the earth live in hell. First of all, if you used to be an angel, would you enjoy your hideout to be the hottest place anywhere, with a river of lava flowing through it? I think not. In Isaiah 14:12 & Daniel8:10, it acknowledges that the once, angels of heaven and Lucifer (Satan) were cast to the ground. Meaning that they are not in hell, but dwell actually amongst man as spirits. And people ask why there's so much chaos on earth today...those same spirits (or angels) that were cast out of heaven, became the demons or evil spirits that influence man's behavior towards one another as well as towards God, and do whatever it takes to keep the eyes of man blinded, and ears deafened from knowing the truth. Know the truth and the truth will set you free. God Bless.

"Jesus gave them (demons) permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine; an dthe herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; an dthey were drowned in the sea. (Mark 5:13)
The Bible says that Jesus "gave them permission." Acording to His sovereign purposes Jesus allowed the demons to enter the pigs and destroy them--the text offers no other explanation. By doing this, Jesus gave the man (who had been demon possesed) a graphic, visible, and powerful lesson on the immensity of the evil from which he had been delivered.

Actually, this is a common misconception. These particular pigs were a science experiment by God. He decided to give pigs wings. The pigs were so excited by their new prized possessions, that they immediately jumped off the nearest cliff to test them out, without reading the instruction manual God provided. Of course this ended in disaster, and God deemed pigs should suffer for their insurrection, spending the rest of their existence thinking that mud is water.
Not many people know that the expression "When pigs fly!" was taken from this particular incident in biblical history.
True story.

I know what you are trying to say and that question I guess you will have to ask Jesus.
BUT,
as far as Legion goes, it was not A DEMON it was a legion of demons, for the answer was, "...we are many not I am many".
The pigs were smart to commit suicide.

Because there are no demons and Lucifer is an agent of God. He is his left hand and his job and purpose, as created by God, is to tempt man so that only the truly rightous make it into heaven. This idea always pisses people off. It's more fun that way.

Who are we to question God.
The demons begged to be sent in the pigs, remember.
So God gave them what they wanted knowing that the pigs would run off the cliff.

Demons and Satan are the most preposterous characters in the Christian faith. They should just be removed from the church teachings completely because they don't fit in AT ALL and are obvious superstition, left over from Greek and Roman polytheism.

Wrong for free will to work GOD had to create hell and evil him self before he could even rpesent free will. He can't hate his own work can he?
The GOD even teaches Devil how to genocide ppl. Look at the Great Flood. Devil is not even close to the power of GOD to murder, genocide , rape, torture like GOD does.
WHy would you even assume that GOD hates Devil?
Therefore GOD exists..
