Because Satan is a figure from Christian mythology.
You can't be a Satanist without first being a Christian. The Bible is the only myth cycle to describe Satan. You don't find Satan in Hindu myth, Buddhist myth, Greek myth, Celtic myth, Norse myth, etc. He first appears in the Bible. If you dismiss the Bible as fiction, then you also deny the existance of Satan.
All of this, of course, assumes that the Satanist in question is one of the type who accepts Satan as a literal being. In truth, there are two very different types of Satanist...
First are those who accept Satan as a literal being--as a god. As I understand it, these folks are in the minority when it comes to Satanic worship.
LeVay Satanism, by contrast, does not accept Satan as a literal being. Instead, adherants as per the "Satanic Bible" published by Anton LeVay deny the exististance of a God (there are no gods) or an afterlife (there's no Heaven or Hell). In the case of this type of Satanist, one is Satanic in that they deny the existance of these things and thus, is Satanic by being Christianity's opposite.

lol, of course they do. most satanists are educated people, and to understand the allegory in world literature you have to have read the bible. can you imagine reading paradise lost without reading the bible first? you'd be so lost.
and satanists pride themselves about being more educated than christians, who wouldn't dare read the satanist bible. its about logic and arrogance at the same time.
or they were christians.
many reasons.

A reason that a Satanist would read the Bible is so that he or she is informed and educated on the subject. You have to be informed and educated about a subject in order to argue it.

Some do. Others don't. I don't really really read it. It's not a read that I find interesting, personally.
We have 'The Satanic Bible', however, if that's what you're talking about.
For some of us, it's a question of general knowledge. For others, it's about how to disprove Christians with their own bible quotes.
It all comes down to what you want to do as an individual.

Simple...Satanism is just annother Christain denomination.....Satan is a christain creation, and the teachings of Satanism tie in to the bible, just teach opposite morals...but the whole fall of Lucifer is critical to them....rather than the fall of man. The serpent that never lied is the masthead....so the Bibles stories and history is valid to the Satainst..
Not a satainist, but Pagan and study other religions a great deal

The Church of Satan can best be described as a religion that mixes a hedonistic philosophy with the rituals of black magic. The Church of Satan does not promote the belief of Satan as a supernatural being; rather, it uses Satan as a symbol of defiance and rebellion against a conformist, God-fearing society. However, LaVey felt that it was necessary to build a church in the religious sense because he believed that humans still needed rituals and symbolic worship to reach a deeper level of meaning. In his own words, "People need ritual, with symbols that they may find in baseball games or church services or wars, as vehicles for expending emotions they can't release or even understand on their own"
There are 9 satanic statements 6 which convey the beliefs of the Church of Satan: Taken DIRECTLY WORD FOR WORD from the Satanic Bible
Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence!
Satan represents vital existence, instead of spiritual pipe dreams!
Satan represents undefiled wisdom, instead of hypocritical self-deceit!
Satan represents kindness to those that deserve it, instead of love wasted on ingrates!
Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheek!
Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires!
Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, often worse than those that walk on all fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development," has become the most vicious animal of all!
Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification!
Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!
This is the basis of my theory that Satanism is just an offshoot of Christianity...I have met Satanists, came clsoe to joining the Church of Satan, but it was not what I was looking for...TOO Christain...... I found my path. I am not saying anything is wrong with Satanists...not by a long shot...just that while I do relate to many of their tennants, Satanism is not my bag

They wish to deceive people by using the Bible and changing some of the words. Think about how many translation are on the market today. They take the blood out, they make Mary not virgin, they make Jesus a sinner with children. Think about what Satan told Eve. Genesis 3: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. God didn't tell Eve he told Adam also look at what Satan done, he added to the Words of God. "Neither shall ye touch it" Remember who the god of this world is today. 2 Corinthians 4: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

The basis of the satanic religion is the total submission and participation to worldly pleasure. Is that not what Satan is out to promote. So, what better way to mock God then to read and desecrate the guidelines of the bible.
