I understand that there are other "issues," of course, that play into this -- and some of these should at some point be addressed.

However, it saddens me the way some people are jumping on this tragedy -- using for an excuse to push their personal/political agenda.

Whether it's video game violence, gun control, or immigration issues ... why can't people just understand this is truly about some messed up guy senselessly killing people?

Is this bothering anyone else?

Look at the news coverage of 33 people being killed in this country. We have a population of over 300,000,000.

Iraq seems to have this many killed on a daily basis with a population of around 27,000,000.

I am not trying to take away from our dead. I know these are our loved ones and the people in Iraq are far away and faceless to most of us. That explains the disparate coverage in the news.

But what I wonder is, does this give you more perspective on the tragedy going on in Iraq?

(I am not suggesting a specific course of action except that possibly we need to ensure that our course of action will bring about stability to that country.)

Sometimes I have these repetetive thoughts about my loved ones dying, and once I start thinking about it, I start crying and I can't stop...
This happens to me at work and sometimes at night.
Other times, I get a phrase stuck in my head, and I have to ask my fiance has to say it out loud before it will go away...
I do not have any "rituals" that I need to perform, but sometimes I get impulses to do weird things, like last night I had to go out to the store and buy 7 candles (and I am not religious!).
I have read on "web MD" and wikipedia the symptoms of OCD, and I don't think I quite fit the criteria.
Please help!!
Serious answers only please...

I'm a loner, I haven't killed anyone yet.

Is it the lack of social interaction that brings on psychosis, or vice versa?

I mean its like saying I am going to build a bomb in my backyard and its my right to do so. I once met this American who said to me "oh, its my right to bear arms to protect me from all the *****s(racist word for black person) and other ethics. All I need now is an excuse to wipe them all out". Do you really want that kind of person to have the right to own a gun?? You can go on about cars killing people too, but thats just a fault of what they were really designed for. Car manufacturers has taken great steps to prevent death in car accidents. A gun is designed for the sole purpose of killing people. People say that banning guns will leave them in the hands of criminals, but then how do you explain that countries that ban guns hardly have such common mass shootings.

Has anyone at all given thought to the idea that Cho Seung-Hui was an exchange student / terrorist in disguise? It’s extremely possible that a group from North Korea or an Asian based terrorist group purposely sent one of their own as an exchange student to do exactly what he did yesterday. A college would be a very easy place for an adult asian male to blend in. If that is true, then that opens up a brand new question….how many more terrorist exchange students are there at large in other areas of our country? It seems as though every school in the country should be extremely cautious and consider every option. However, as a country if this theory was true....we can't go on a crazy witch hunt!

If any well known white person says something remotely considered racist, he has not only Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson jumping down his throat, he also has the entire community condemning his words. But if someone other than white makes similiar remarks, no one cares. WHY????

For example, the other night I happen to see an episode of Carlos Mencia (I was really bored, ok!!) where he was parading around in BLACK-FACE and using all kinds racist words. But he gets to do so because he last name is: Mencia. So what!! This guy can't even do a correct impression of a Mexican; yet he gets the "privilege" of being racist???

I do own guns, but no hand guns. I have rifles for hunting, and that is what they are used for. A hand gun (to me) is only used to kill another human being. So, the real question is, if there are no hand guns would this curb violence. Think about it. You can still be protected with a rifle, it's just harder to hide and bring in a school or other public facility. I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms. I just think gangs and things like what happened yesterday at Va Tech would be curbed drastically if there were no hand guns allowed. What is your feelings on this or possible solution?

I mean what is seriously going on??? We have blatant racism still..even on public media. We have 32 dead at a place of learning. Rapists, child molesters, war, weird Hollywood influences, mass consumerism, poverty. Is this hell on Earth??? It seems pain is everywhere. What will it take to turn this around and unite together and live to help and uplift those around us. Seriously after yesterday's shooting, even though I'm states away, I just feel like I was shot in the foot and my hope was deflated for humanity. The scariest thing is that a day is not normal in other countries if something similar to this does not happen. Where is God??

I am consumed with sympathy, concern and a feeling of helplessness regarding the tragedy that just occured at Virginia Tech. I have been in constant prayer but does any one have any suggestions on what I, here in Georgia, can do to help. I'm particulary seeking forms of action that I can take to support others.

Thanks, God bless you.

I know its in the constitution and all the rest of it but should they be a part of people lives? Isn't it time to ban them, hold an amnesty and allow to police to control crime - not take it into your own hands.

We have enough problems with guns here in the uk and they are still illegal.

I know it's an age-old debate but with St George's day looming again, it always rears it's head this time of year! Personally, I was born and bred in England with 12 generations of my family I can trace back to all over this lovely country. I am proud of my heritage and have instilled that into my children. Why don't we celebrate St George's Day with a bank holiday (despite the obvious that St george was not English!)? Why don't we teach English history to our kids in schools anymore? Why am I a racist if I hang the George Cross from my house? We should all be proud of English history - it's the foundation for the lives you live today.
Don't b*tch about wars we shouldn't be involved in - our country was built on wars we shouldn't have been involved in but without them, you could be speaking a different language in a third world country now! Support our flag, our troops, our services and our country - down with political correctness - bring back true Patriotism!

been on this site for awhile, and have noticed that Americans are very ....untolerating of people from different cultures and religions. (i'm not generalising its just an observation) perhaps this has alot to do with índividuals' snapping and killing a whole lot of people! perhaps there is alot of bullying going on because of the different cultures. i mean lets face it, a person can take only so much before they snap....i'm not justifying these deaths, but maybe the ROOT of the problem should be explored before people just BLAME guns and so forth. every person in my opinion should change their views. learn to respect other people. stop picking and bullying people who dont look or act like you, dont follow the same religion or have the same skin colour, and then maybe this kind of thing wont happen? what do you think?

In Australia, after the Port Arthur Masacre, our Prime Minister decided t toughen up gun policy and buy back all guns owned by citizens, except those that have a special licence. Greatly increasing the safety of citizens in Australia.

Should the gun lobby in the USA have have so much power? Is it time to confiscate guns in the USA? Would as many people have been killed today if average citizens were not able to own guns?
