Has anyone at all given thought to the idea that Cho Seung-Hui was an exchange student / terrorist in disguise? It’s extremely possible that a group from North Korea or an Asian based terrorist group purposely sent one of their own as an exchange student to do exactly what he did yesterday. A college would be a very easy place for an adult asian male to blend in. If that is true, then that opens up a brand new question….how many more terrorist exchange students are there at large in other areas of our country? It seems as though every school in the country should be extremely cautious and consider every option. However, as a country if this theory was true....we can't go on a crazy witch hunt!

Firstly, for all those who think I am a racist....I most certainly not! Secondly, just because you are from South Korea (which I was very much aware of) doesnt mean that you dont have friends to the North. This was merely a question. I have no idea why so many of you jumped to a conclusion that I am a racist. Especially considering that I didnt make one negative comment towards any one group of people. So with that in mind, I would say to all of you who made negative comments towards me....you are the ones who should grow up and quit making it a race issue. The fact is that we are at war....and we are at war with no one country. We are at war with terrorist on all fronts. I love my country and I am merely trying to do anything I can to help the great USA. For all of you who are trying to make me sound like a racist....please get a life and re-read what I wrote....and stop adding to my statement things that arent even there!

Lastly, do you not think that I am perfectly aware of the fact that people can just "snap?" My goodness....I am an American and I have heard of horrible acts upon other people before. It doesnt take much of a history lesson to remember Oklahoma City, Columbine, Whitman at Texas....the list goes on and on! I simply wanted to get some other opinions....not a barrage of ridiculous claims that I am a racist when I am most certainly not! ...Claims that have no bearing on this conversation....OF COURSE RACE ISNT AN ISSUE HERE!!! The idea that most of you would bring it up is simply mind boggling.

If many of you will notice in my first paragraph I stated....that we should be careful and not go on a witch hunt. (That's what looking for future suspects based solely upon their race or religion would be.)
The last two comments were very good ones. My main point is that all options should be looked at. It's true that the more we learn about the gunman, the more unlikely it is that he has terrorist ties. However, I do know that things happen to people in their lives that shape their outlook on governments, people, and countries. I am wondering exactly what his motive was. (As most of us are) Was this some sort of political statement?....or was it purely evil actions?...etc?

Yeah...the more we are finding out about the guy...turns out he was just completely psychotic. Really makes you wonder....what turns someone into a monster?...how does someone get to this point.
I dont know about any of you but I have had this overwhelming desire to do something....to help somehow. However, this isnt exactly like a natural disaster where you can go help repair things. You can't repair this....Regardless, this is a great nation and we will all get through this. However, I feel so bad for the families and the victims....I mean how do they get through this? Other than prayer and leaning on God in this time.

i agree with you. i dont think this is an issue of race. i also feel that all motives should be looked at including that of terrorism. it may be far fetched but it may be the truth as well. we don't know at this point. people need to stop using the race card as a way to single a person out which is what many did when you asked this question.
i overheard at lunch today by some co-workers that he was looking for his girlfriend and couldn't find her at the dorm so he went to her class to find her and that's where he shot everyone else.
its too bad things like this continue to happen in this world. man is incapable of producing peace globally

You must realize that cultures in other countries are often nothing alike. For example, you could look for a year in South Korea and probably never find someone who supported North Korea.
North Korea is not about communism or religion - ideas that could possibly lead someone to commit these crimes. Its about something entirely different - one family's henious reign over a people. Similar to Cuba, but more a crime against humanity than what Castro has done (not to excuse his terrible crimes).
Also consider that North Korea is the most closed off country on earth. Its also one of the most watched. How would a Korean man get into South Korea (where he would have to go to come into the U.S. in the first place) from the North? Just walk across the DMZ? I've been there...that's not a likely possibility. Which means that he would have to be someone from the South who felt strongly for the North - a possibility that I've already said is unlikely.
So, I don't think your theory is true - or at the least, its highly unlikely. But who knows - in a few days the truth will come out and I could be wrong.
And I hope we don't have the same level of racism we saw after 9/11. Remember, Koreans have already had to endure violence and the loss of millions of dollars of property due to the racism - during the L.A. Riots in 1991.

No its not possible. Cho Seung-Hui was 23 years old. and he and his family came over in 1992. Which means he would have been 8 years old....8 year old terrorists sent over to the USA knowingly knowing that he would take his life and others at the age of 23 but still decided to get a degree in "English" and it was his last year and he was making pretty decent grades.
See I knew this would happen americans biggest problem is that their quick to jump to conclusions Remember this is how the Iraq War got started A couple of guys flew some planes into Two Buildings. They were "Saudi" but we decided to invade Iraq/Afhganistan and not Suadi Arabia. Some high authority guy told us to go to war and we said Yes before we took out the time to put the pieces together.
Then months after that happened some Young americans were caught beating up muslims becuase everyone thought muslims were bad. So here we go again but this time its "Koreans" You'll see it in the news a couple of Koreans got beat up today. As a matter of fact since americans jump to conclusions expect for all Asians to have it coming to them......
By the way I still dont get that. Saudis' flew the pane into the twin towers shouldn't we have invaded Saudi Arabia....

This kid is another poor excuse for a human being who couldn't handle being rejected, didn't make any friends because he was a wack job, and instead of blaming himself for his screw ups he blamed his "fellow" students.
I mean the kid looked like a guy who needs his *** kicked first of all, with that smug look I can see why he didn't have any friends.
Its amazing that with all the crap that goes on in the world that people can't figure out that school isn't a place to socialize and have a great time. Its a place to learn and if you pick up a couple friends then so be it. You go to school to make money and try to live your life without going into poverty, some are more lucky then others.
I dont have much except for my future wife and together we may be able to purchase a cardboard box to live in but it will be ours.
If I didn't have her, I would be lonely but not shoot up a school.
If there is a hell, hopefully this kid goes there. I feel sorry for his family, they will never be able to live a normal life again.
Lets all grow up and realize that life sucks and we just have to deal with it.

The gun store in his house the town. It used to be at the information, the landlord felt horrible while he learned the gun got here from his store. But Cho had something ID they require despite the fact that he used to be a pupil on a Green card or visa. We most likely must difference that regulation in order that we will a minimum of prohibit earnings to USA residents.

You have to ask yourself, If South, not North, Korea did send a Korean terroist exchange student to America, why on earth would he shoot up Virginia Tech of all places? what would be the motive in shooting up an average college compass? Just becuase someone forieghn does an act of violence doesn't mean it's always terroism. Seriously, think about those questions.

It seems that if that were true, some terrorist group would already be claiming responsibility. I am sure also, that a thorough background investigation is well underway that will identify any and all groups he has ever been associated with.

This question had nothing to do with white males "yet we were brought up again" That is so weird, everyone in one way or another tries to associate my race with any bad that has happen. The guy wasn't white he was Korean, he probably got picked on so much that he snapped. Leave El cracko out of this...We had nothing to do with it.

he was from South Korea, thanks. North and South Koreans are very different groups of people, and I think it's gross that people are trying to use this event to justify racial hatred. Have you given thought that he could have easily been a white male or anything else. Then what would people be saying - that mass murderers are always white males, which is clearly unfair and not true.
