My birthday is on sept. 10, so I was still awake from the party the night before. I was laying on my couch trying to relax and go to sleep, when they began to show the planes crash again and again, in slow motion and fast. It was early, maybe 6:00 am. It broke my heart to watch the buildings fall, and to think of all the families affected by this terrible tragedy.

I live in Turkey, so it was afternoon for me too. I had just packed my bags and was about to leave for an 11 hour bus trip to start working in another city in Turkey. Before i left home, I watched the second tower collapsing live!! I had been in World Trade Center as a tourist short time ago before the attacks so everything inside the building and the working people i saw there kept sliding in my head as i took the long bus trip. I carried the fear and sadness of the event very deeply for 3 weeks more. The rest is history: The curse and consequences of 9/11 is still breaking the world apart until this day. Sadly, there's no winner in a war.

Sitting in a conference in San Antonio with 200 other FAA employees (kind of ironic). The hotel had monitors out in the hall turned to CNN so that people could watch while getting their coffee. All of the East Coast staff's phones and pagers went off at the same time for few seconds and then everything went dead. Those of us out in the hall actually watched everything on CNN as it was happening.
After being trapped in Texas for a week, everyone ended up driving back home, including the folks from the West Coast and Alaska. The Hawaii and Carribean crowd waited longer until the airports opened back up.

I was actually on Route 80 in NJ driving to school- it was the first week of classes. I was listening to Imus in the Morning when they started to talk about how a plane crashed into the WTC. At first I thought it was one of those smaller, single engine types so I didn't think that much of it- sort of like what happened with Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle last fall. It wasn't until I actually got to school and started speaking to people that I realized what was going on.
Man, the commute back was hell. It usually takes about 45-50 minutes, that day it took over 3 1/2 hours...

I was doing patient advocacy at the local hospital. I was taking a survey among patients when the first reports came over the television. I tryed going about my work until the second plane hit. At that point what i was doing didnt seem very important. I went to the office of a friend of mine and watched and prayed throughout the day. A feeling of helplessnes was with me that day and for the next several days.

I woke up from sleep and turned on the tv and saw the aftermath maybe an hour after it happened. I didnt know what the hell happened. I thought aliens or some outrageous thing happened because i never saw such an incredible display in my life. It was like it was a dream.
I thought aliens invaded the earth and blew up the buildings. Like Independence Day.

I was at work in a shopping mall in Toronto. I was with the owner of the pet store I was managing and my husband called and told us about the first plane crashing into the building. While we were on the phone the second one hit.
The owner's daughter had a bf who worked a few streets from the twin towers and her daughter had left a few days earlier to visit with him. She was quite afraid of course and it was a rough day at work.
When I got home we watched the tv all night and all the next day to see coverage of it.

I was working at the post office. We listened on the radio as we sorted the mail. I didn't see any images until I was out on the road to start delivery, when I stopped at a convenience store for a coffee to take with me, and I watched for a few minutes before continuing on. I had a job to do.

Our english teacher put CNN on in the class room and we watched. The day went as normal, and when I got home I watched the footage all night.

I was on the 39th floor of an office building in downtown Atlanta (another target city). The first 12 floors of the building were occupied by the CDC.... The center for disease control.
