It's comparable to the last days of the Roman empire. An arrogant leadership, in power too long and now believing its own publicity ... a society descending into moral turpitude (drugs, booze, junk food, obesity) and civil disorder (citizens murdering each other on a daily basis with legal weapons) ... a people who have been taught for generations that their country is invincible and cannot now imagine that it isn't true.

This will in the end make it easy for its enemies to overrun and defeat it. The Muslim world is lying in wait ... the Pakistani regime is on the brink of falling to the fundamentalists AND it has a nuclear bomb.

The whole of the Arabic Middle East, including Iraq, will be in the hands of the fanatics in a few years and Americans will be wishing desperately that they'd left the lesser of several evils, Saddam, where he was.

I believe the US is rapidly reaching the point where it will be easy prey to the Islamic extremists. Time to wake up, America! Discuss?

There is too much hatred going on, maybe by saying something nice to someone could change their attitude and possibly change the outcome of some further event. What are some small things you could say to somebody to make them feel better about themselves?

Think about it, every person has the "right to choose" in every decision they make, they simply must life with the consequences. Logically, shouldn't it be labeled "right to end life without consequences?"

( For example only) A person might make the comment, " I love cheesecake." A minute later, in the same conversation, they may say, " I love God." Well, what are they saying, really? Are they reducing God down to a piece of cheesecake? Should we not use more discernment when we use this word?

I grew up in the DC suburbs and I've been in Houston since 2000 (came for school, stayed for a job and a string of relationships). My current job isn't worth staying here, and I'd like to go somewhere with greater intellectual and social potential (translation: I like going to clubs, I don't mind a drink or two, but I'd like to be able to *talk* to people, too). I've stayed where I am because I don't know where I want to go, and because I wanted to be pretty sure that the problem wasn't with me. I had been planning to hold out until I went back to grad school, but now I want to delay that for a few years and I don't want to spend another year in Houston. Any ideas? Young + intellectual + cultured + fun cities? I've looked at Denver and Boston, as well as at returning to DC or New York....

Why does America think it owns the world and everyone loves them? Most of the world couldn't give a #### about what happens to you or your country.

And it is four times as bad for the families. The news is on talking about it. What are the stories that you got about it? If the is a inter net site send me a link.
My teacher got the news on the internet on the computer and played it for us. And they that it could have been a Asian man about 22 to 18 to 30. And why do YOU think that there was not a bigger response to a problem that even thou could not be stopped could be prevented to some point.

I know they are the true color black just like I am not really white. But if you prefer to be called African Americans then should I demand to be called European American? And my neighbor be called Japanese American? If you are an American, you are an American. If you were born in Africa and then came to America and became a citizen, then I can see being referred to as an African American. But if you weren't born in Africa, why do you want to be referred to as such? I don't understand this. We all have our ancestorial backgrounds, our races, our cultures, our faiths, and our skin colors. Being called white doesn't bother me. I think being labeled as a Caucasian is stupid. And I have seen European American as a option on forms in the past year. I crossed it out and wrote WHITE.

Sorry if I sound rude. That's not my intention. I just am trying to understand why African American is preferred if you weren't actually born in Africa. Thanks for your insight!
