I agree lots of progress has been made and keep on getting made. But do you think it is being made only for the betterment of life? Space has reduced, air and water have become more polluted, civic services have deteriorated, more divorces, more deliquency, etc, etc etc.
Do you think with these things at the back of each one's mind makes him think as above?

Because every human being is unsatisfied when we have the best we ignore it and when it goes then we realise that it was the best what we had, and then all we can do is praise the old and not give a damn for what we have got in hand

I dont understand why people say the good old days were better - this means horse drawn carriages and gas lights and long dresses? Firstly 50 yeras ago we were way behind with medical knowledge compared with what we have today. Women had a higher risk of dying of child birth and premature babies just did not live - there were no incubators, in fact they were pu in wood stoves to keep them warm and suffocated or were accidently cooked . There were no rights for workers and no social services - money (the dole) meaning that you could get ration tickets in Australia not sure about other countries but that was that. Food was scarce, work was scarce, no equality for men and women, no fair education for girls. No career prospects, no contraception so big families were the norm. There are lots of things that I have not listed but on top of all this there were no TV, washing machines, electricity etc. life was hard. I think that people see the glamourous version of yesteryear that holly wood have created and think its better than now - My parents hated the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's so I guess they liked the 1930's.

No doubt 'Old is gold'. But we can not stagnate. Keeping the old values in our mind we have to use the current technological progress to our best advantage. You need not relinquish old values. They are very much in need.

Old is gold. Old was cheap. My wife is old, she was better in the past. People were friendly in past, we were able to bath in rivers in past etc. etc.
