I need to buy a parting gift for an executive who is moving to another department. I can spend up to $500 or so. But here's the thing: while she is a very nice and kind person, she is also so professional that we've all realized we know nothing personal about her. So I'm finding it hard to come up with a gift that is personal enough to really let her know how much we valued her. Someone suggested a spa certificate, but I'd rather it be somethign tangible, that she can have for longer than a day. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

We are all family. We have common ancestors. We just have spread out across the world and adapted to our environments and forgotten our true heritage. All of the world needs to come to an understanding that religion, race, nor anything separates us, we separate ourselves. God gave us the idea of religion, humankind divided it up. The basics of religion are worship, faith, love, and hope ( i stop there, but know there are probably more things in common). We came along and cut a piece of the pie of "the idea of religion" out. We took bits and pieces of what we believe and then added and subtracted according to what worked best for us. That is why we have so many different religious beliefs. That is why wars happen. Not because of religion, but because of our ignorance of the facts. We would work together better if we could all see that we all come one creator, I come from God, You may call him Allah, or someone else may call him a her and her name be Luna. Think about it.

Unless you've traveled outside the US you probably don't even know what this question is asking. There is a big world out there with cities and industry, inventors and intellectuals, theatre, opera, education and night life. Many of the worlds great discoveries were accomplished by some one not from the US and yet the US will lay claim to every invention and innovation, they believe they single handedly won WWI and II. What does it take to have to lie and boast your way through life?

Who are you?
What does this question mean to you? Do you answer with a name? Do you answer with a belief? I am Mike. I am athiest. I am a bassist, lyricist, and a thinker. I am all of these, and my personal beliefs and traits have so much more of an impact on who I am than my birth given name. Yet I answer with the name, Mike. I am Mike. Not I am Mike, the athiest bassist. I am Mike. The bassist, the athiest, the thinker, the believer, the hater, the lover, the friend. The inaudible sigh. The relief that noone hears or sees. Who are you?

Buffalo. What other animal in this world travels in herds so tightly woven, so dependant on what the buffalo in front of them do, that they will follow eachother off a cliff, effectively eradicating almost an entire herd? Humans. Humans herd together, and we follow eachother off of our own cliffs. Cliffs that we can't even see, because we're so far up the person's *** in front of us that we can't even see that we're going straight for a cliff. Metaphorically speaking, we're all headed for one cliff or another. Not very many people desire to walk off a cliff, it happens suddenly. Sometimes the person who's head is up your *** knocks you off before you get a chance to turn around and break away from the herd.

If you're lucky, you got put on the outer edges of the herd. You get to see what is happening, from a 3rd person perspective, and you decide not to follow the herd. You go off on your own, sometimes you're able to fend for yourself, sometimes you're still eaten. At least you weren't part of the herd.

The whole human race is one big herd, and there are the few of us who broke off from the herd, who see this happening and are way too weak to stop an entire stampede.

My grammar and spelling are no where near perfect, but some of the stuff I see is just ridiculous!

-Improper use of apostrophes (i.e. using them to pluralize a word like Lady's or Flower's

-Why do people do this: Call Target "Target's" or call Panera "Panera's" It is so damn annoying!

-It amazes me how often you'll see "There" used instead of "They're" or "Their"

Does this annoy anyone else? Is there anyone that does this that can explain why they do? I understand why people say "U" instead of "you" (Because they're lazy), but these mistakes are not saving keystrokes (They're actually doing the opposite).

I feel like I self-sabotoge alot. I will be doing good, feel good about how I did something or how I look, and then all of a sudden a million zillion self-defeating thoughts come in and make me want to do something drastic to screw it all up. I am a good person though but I have really low self-esteem and a past that I am trying to move on from. I am trying to change and try new ways of thinking and seeing myself in the world but it's soooo hard to change thinking patterns. What keeps other people from reaching their personal potential???

When I was growing up, only ten or fifteen years ago, it was perfectly normal to go for riding lessons, which I did and am quite proficient, but now this is considered the reserve of the affluent. My great grandmother was nothing but horses and hounds and killing. What has happened to these people? Have they all dissappeared or am I the only one left?

Everyone treats it like it is some evil act that only the most holy and devout people can responsibly engage in sex.

Sex is a biological act like any other. Do you think that defecation is evil?

It's true that sex can result in babies and STD's. However, there are precautions that can be taken to ensure that these things don't happen. And it's also true that these precautions aren't always 100% effective. However, that doesn't warrant abstinence. Driving a car is more dangerous than having sex. Should everyone stop driving their cars?

Somehow, it's okay for the United States to go to war and cause the deaths of thousands of people but the minute someone has sex, we're all going to hell.

I just left a job where a few people had tendencies to make, albeit unintentional, insulting or annoying remarks. I'll never see these people again and logically should not care about what they said, but I still think about it and it still really bothers me. Any ideas about how I can deal with this and laugh it all off?

I just want to know, if a 32 year old person in New York City, died in Wed night in Nov 2005 and was embalmed and buried 2 days after they died (Friday night) - would they be decomposing now - or would they still look like they did in life? I know it's been very cold in NYC since November - does that help preserve the body? What would they look like if they were exhumed today?

In the event that affirmative action and similar programs are abolished, what can community leaders, educators, students and parents do to ensure that everyone, regardless of background and history, are able to compete not only on a national level, but international level as well? What sorts of programs can we create? Do cultural, social, psychological factors caused by historical injustice make Affirmative Action necessary? I believe that superior education and skills, particularly in fields such as science and engineering, is one of the things that will lead to economic development and improved conditions in disadvantaged communities, allowing them to compete and establish a respectable reputation in the global community, but if our students accept the bigotry of low expectations or are subject to lower standards by account of their race or whatever, how does this prepare them for true competition? Doesn't this hurt them in the long run or not?

I would like to hear some of your sotries/experiences of your growing up with your neighbors of Hindu/Muslim and neighbors of other religion. I am not too keen to hear negative stories but stories of friendship, fun and sharing and living in unity. Especially your childhood days. Thanks.

If you are not a Christian, I would like to hear your stories of your friendships with people of other religions neighbors, classmates etc. Thanks

I would like how culturally you shared without allowing the religion to bring a barrier.
