There are surface differences. Deep down, people are individuals and you'll meet some creeps and some terrific people, but there are broad categories that you'll find can be (to some extent) true. People in big cities are "colder", more rushed, less likely to want to spend time on niceties. Most people find this truer in big East Coast cities. People in the South enjoy a slower pace of life, are generally perceived as friendlier, and more relaxed. People in the South can be sensitive about some things that just don't matter to someone from say..Michigan. Mid-Western people are not as brash, more generous, and less involved in ego-stoking and acquisitions as status symbols. I'm not sure where you are going, so I'm not going to try to characterize the entire U.S. for you. Just keep in mind that even though people in a big city may seem abrupt or rude, they are just people and if you scratch the surface, you'll probably find a gem. Have fun.

Folks from up north are shady, sarcastic and not very nice. Is what you can do for them and not what they can do for you type of attitude. They are also quite fake. In a nutshell, if they don't need you they have no use for you. Folks from the South are nice and friendly. I find the Midwest to be the same as the South. I am speaking from experience since I've moved quite a bit.

huge differences, especially if the ones you interact with have an i.q. higher than our president's, 104, if he's sober. the south and especially texas provides those who love nascar, lynchings, inane fundamentalist christian ranting, and hunting defenseless animals. the north has a lot more class. the midwest has southern overtones. and california does it all, but stay out of L A unless you're packing a large caliber automatic weapon. this is mostly in fun, but a kernel of truth is evident, eh? ;-)

I know colorado drivers are teh worst drivers out of all 50 states.
it is true to certain points. The slang for one is. In Florida a peice is known as a gun. In the mid west we call guns glocks, a peice to us is a pipe.
I confused my friend in florida with that one.
plus the south is more racist than the north. And of course the accents change too.
But as to weather people are nicer. Every region has their good and bad apples.

you know, there might be some slight differences in the big cities, but in the rest of the country by and large people are all about the same. i have been treated rudely in rural Georgia just as i have been treated like family in New York City.
basically, a jerk is a jerk and a nice guy is a nice guy no matter where you go...

well i am from connecticut and there are differences even in towns with in the same state. when you are talkinng about cities there are big differences. the accents change. in the suburb areas different neighborhoods have different people with in them as well. there is such a thing called southern hospitality but the funny thing is since i moved to florida i find that there are more so called christians but along with that there is more abundent racsim as well. in california the people tend to be more laid back. how ever the area where it is prodominatly black or mexcian the crime rate sky rockets. it all depends on the area you want to go to. there is good and bad every where you go.

Its like any other country you go to, they're are good people and bad people. I'm from the U.S. and work in the middle east and have traveled to other countries, and have been lucky to find really nice people, especially in the Asian countries. Some countries don't like Americans but I treat people the way i want to be treated..Nice, respectful and kindness. Don't act like you're better than anyone else because of your money, social status or the color of your skin. Be nice and most places will accept that. Good Luck in your travels.

People are very different depending on where you go. As a whole, I believe that you will be treated in the same way that you treat them.

There is a difference. Southern people are generally friendlier and more accommodating than people in other regions.
However, most rural people, no matter where they're from, are friendlier than their city-dwelling counterparts.

I think we all watch the same crap television , so the acting should be quite similar to each other. However we are a country of different immigrants.
So there should be some differences when you cut past the B.S. , if you know what I mean.
