We hear a lot from our comedians in the UK that the (North) Americans do not really get it when we are being sarcastic and take it seriously - Do you? Oh and before anyone says it - yeah, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, etc.

Once you are diagnosed with lung cancer, there is no turning back. I hope that this awful message reach you guys/gals who are still smoking. Please think hard about it before you puff another cigarette because it might be the cigarrette that will do you in.

I am an X-smoker..... I quit 2 weeks before New Year of 2006.
I feel so good. You can do it. You can do it for you and your family and friends. It's a unselfish act to quit smoking.

I talk with doctors, lawyers, and professors with big fancy words and I talk with people who use street slang and ebonics. I'm always irritated when highly educated people use the big words around those who don't understand it or don't use those words - like they're re-emphasizing their upperclass status over the others.

But am I insulting those who use street slang when I use their terms when I'm around them?
