That means a person that ur co-worker knows or u know has died and he/she wants you to pay respect and sympathy to the dead that's in the WAKE.

It is unclear wether the coworker died or a friend or family member of the coworker, but either way a wake is visitation with family & friends & the person who died (casket or urn) before the actual funeral. It can either occur the night before or right before a funeral. It is a more laid back enviroment although it is not comfortable by any means but it gives you more room to have a personal moment with the person who died and their family. It is appropriate to bring a card of sympathy and even to place a small amount of money in the card to help with the costs of a funeral. Dress conservatively, most people wear dark colors.

You give your condolences (sp). Sometimes you view the body. You socialize and you eat. They're designed to show support for the family and loved ones and to make you feel a little better.
