Once you are diagnosed with lung cancer, there is no turning back. I hope that this awful message reach you guys/gals who are still smoking. Please think hard about it before you puff another cigarette because it might be the cigarrette that will do you in.

I am an X-smoker..... I quit 2 weeks before New Year of 2006.
I feel so good. You can do it. You can do it for you and your family and friends. It's a unselfish act to quit smoking.

Well yeah, there's no turning back, but it doesn't mean there's no cure. My uncle had lung cancer a few years back. No, he didn't die, he's been in remission for 3 years. And here's the weird part: He never smoked. You don't necessarily have to smoke to get it, and although people who do smoke are at a higher risk, it's not a given that anyone who smokes will get cancer. Yeah, I used to smoke, and yes, I quit. But don't try to motivate people with fear, or they'll fail. The only way to quit is to WANT to quit, and I'm sure that having quit yourself, you understand. But fear of cancer or sickness and an actual want are two completely different things. I'm right with you when you tell people they should quit, but I think that maybe giving links for support groups, etc, is a better way than trying to scare them.

Are you serious??? I think it is far more altruistic of me to continue smoking and not rip people's heads off than to selfishly quit just for my own health and become the mean hateful person I am every time I quit. Besides- You were a smoker!!! You don't get to tell people not to make the mistakes you did!!!! Everyone needs to live their own life! Please don't tell me how to live mine!! And yes I do know how horrible it is to die of lung cancer my grandpa is going through it right now and he smoked for nearly 65 years- my grandma on the other hand Never smoked or drank and died of AIDS from a blood transfusion- I don't know what I'm gonna die from but I'm probably just as likely to get lung cancer from driving through rush hour traffic with all the SUV's than from smoking. Being judgemental is not the way to get across to people.
