I frequently wonder if the whole concept is based in any sort of reality. You know, the whole idea of selling off or giving away everything you own, and moving to some island and living the simple life...

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii awhile ago, and it seemed to me that there was only three kinds of people there.

1. Locals who were so outrageously ignorant it was comical.
2. Tourists that left their brains in Japan/California.
3. Rich retirees who bought their way in (sometimes for millions of $$$), and hung around for a couple of years before realizing they had no friends and nothing to do, then leaving.

It seemed like 80% of people fell into one of these categories.

Granted, this WAS in Hawaii, maybe the Caribbean is different, I don't know. Is it? Anyone been there for a substantial length of time?

I used to think it WAS possible, but now as I get older I think the realities of life and $$$ and the like make it impossible.

Serious discussion please...

If there anyway to get data back from a CD after it's been rewritten. I rewrote the DVD I made of my son's birth with a bunch of clips of Jar Jar Binks that I collected from the internet. My wife is so angry. To be honest, I knew it was that birth DVD, but I didn't care, I wanted the Jar Jar clips more. I love Jar Jar more then my wife, and son. But just to calm my wife down, is their any way to retrieve the older video?

This is a quote from George Orwell, author of Animal Farm and 1984:

"A human being is primarily a bag for putting food into; the other functions and facilities may be more godlike, but in point of time, they come afterwards."

Personally, I see this quote as saying that what we are put on this Earth to do is... survivie, plain and simple. All the other roles we have "acquired" throughout time are only roles society has placed on us. Does anyone else feel that these roles (friend, boss, basketball player, etc.) we have been socialized into aren't as important as we sometimes feel they are? Obviously, some of these roles make life more enjoyable and entertaining, but the point I'm trying to make is that it seems like we sometimes take ourselves and our purpose here on Earth too seriously.

I'm interested in finding out what you honestly (HONESTLY) associate with these words. What images run through your mind? What stories?

Please include in your answer whether or not you know someone of Aboriginal descent on a personal basis.

I am a boxer so I prefer Hanes. My children, the fruit of my loom, I mean loins, are still in diapers. Which brand do you cotton to? Can you support your answer. Keep it clean. Nothing below the belt.

I am a teacher and teach children the value of the lives that were lost during the wars. I wear a poppy as my grandfather's brother died on the war field too. However I do not think it is necessary to expect or force people to wear them as has been done with the likes of Jon Snow newreader and Louis Walsh - X factor judge. These people reserve the right to not support or show their opinion like many others.

Is it just me, or am I being left behind in the 'law suits' department. Every time someone falls over in a Supermarket (because they didn't see the grape on the floor), trips over a paving slab in the street (because they weren't looking where they were going), falls out of a tree (where they shouldn't've been anyway), gets their hand caught in a swing door (because they were trying to hold it open for the bit of totty following them) or sliding off the table (during a Bier Feste dance), the first thing people seem to be doing these days, is reaching for their phone and calling the nearest accident lawyer. However stupid the accident, the only thing that concerns people is how much money they can claim for being stupid and getting hurt in the first place. Even 'He hurt my feelings'. Personally, I think it's all very pathetic, even though I could have put a few 'stupid' claims in of my own on many an occassion.
Am I the only one who feels this way, or am I the stupid one?

I wish my mom would have aborted me. I wouldn't have missed anything. For every good thing that happens, 10 bad things happen so what's the point? None of that garbage about friends and family and all, as I don't have much of either.
