When I was in junior high I went to a predominately white school, surrounded by blonde hair blue eyed chicks who teased the "big" lips and "big" butt but now those same chicks are paying big money to get the exact look. Why is that!!!!

Our block is closed off and we're having a picnic, but it's raining. I'm not upset, though, since it's been SUPER hot and humid and we NEED the rain! We're going to bring potato chips and a huge bottle of Chardonnay.

racism could be eradicated?
African people are the founders of civilization. Astronomy. mathematics, medicine, masonry and monotheism was first discovered and embraced by African people. These are facts that many people deny because of ignorance or blantant racism. My favorite denial of African achievement is that the Egyptians were not Africans. do you think a better educational system could bring people together in peace?

See, for example, the symbol of the team Washington Redskins:

http://www.redskins.com/

Or the mascot of the Cleveland Indians:

http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/index.jsp?c_id=cle

If there were such caricatures of other groups around, the teams would be accused of insensitive and they'd have to change them!

Also, how many Native Americans play important roles in movies, for example?

How come no one cares that all representations of Natives are stereotypical and demeaning, but when they happen to Blacks or Jews there's hell to pay?

fact that I am just now realizing that the people in the U.K. do not like us (Americans -- you know, we are on the U.S. site - am I right?). WHAT IS UP WITH THEM LATELY??? It's like there is so much hatred from them all of a sudden. Don't get me wrong, the people who are just being idiots on here - bad horrible answers and rude questions, I usually just bypass or ignore but I don't understand this country - United Kingdom - is against the USA. When did that happen? Why did that happen? I guess I just don't understand.

A child is innocent in this world. "We" dragged them into this place and they have to suffer at the hands of some hideous psycho. Does the law forget about the long tortures and slow deaths of these beautiful children. I think it does. Their should be NO second chances for child abusers. If caught and convicted they do life period! You gave up your rights when you touched a child, and its more then just touched. Lives are forever ruined and families devastated. I realize this happens with other crimes too , but these atrocitys are on another level. I have a young daughter and cant stand much more of this garbage. Im tired of them being labled sick, and unable to control themselves. THe great plan of society is to ( in many cases) give them a few years in jail and let them out. Oh well, if they do it again , another child killed or damaged. That in effect is what is being said. The only way to REALLY protect our children is to get serious. Rights? Bullshit.

... does DNA influences pretty much who we are and how we live - behave, act, etc. ? In other words, is a guy agressive because he choose to or because of his DNA? Or is a girl so girly because she choose to or because of her DNA?

I'm not for sure if I want to be one if I get the chance. I want to have a few kids (3 or 4, but not limited to) and I want to be there for them (especially when they are real young), but I think I'll feel like I'm dependant on my husband for everything which I pretty much will be money wise. But I also want a career. I don't know what to do. What do you think?

I live in Manchester and went to uni in Bradford. I am having a lot of trouble at home (arguments and arranged marriage crap as I'm 30 and still unmarried) but find going for a 2 hour drive back to my uni town really helpful. The drive is nice in itself as you go across the pennines and as I had good memeories there it brings it all back. I also listen to the radio which is relaxing also. I have been doing this over th elast month and I find it helps me. I have to of course lie to my mum (who is typically overprotective) and say i'm going to the gym. Any white over thirty somethings I knw you won't understand as you will say i shouldn't be at home but with my family they wouldn't tolerate me living alone unmarried unless for a good reason. I don't have any friends in Manchester (I have 2 good friends elsewhere in the country) and would find it really difficult to make friends and open up. Most people over the hot weather have said they are out at BBQ's &all I do is drive but I like it
