My husband is in the service ans we're really young, and so our our friends and acquaintances. I notice a lot of my husbands friends marry Asian girls. My husband is Asian and i'm Hispanic, but we're American and we speak English while fluent in our native language. But I've noticed these girls are met on a short tours to some foreign country and the English is very broken and the language barier is extensive. Now I understand thse women wanting an American life but what exactly is the motivation for the men and young guys to "fix" these women and marry them. An Asian friend told me that the wives are obedient and that is the motivation for the men. I'm all for interracial marriages i'm a product of one as well. I just don't understant how a connection can be made with such a communication barrier. I would like some insight in understanding this.

I lived in Europe for several years, Naples Italy. And I currently live in Thailand. I have never got a fake phone # outside of the States. Don't give me any crap about girls wanting to go to America, my Thai girlfriend makes more money than I do. Why do American women give fake #s? Are they too weak and fragile to simply say they are not interested? Do they do it just to be nasty? Do they think it's funny?

I ask this question because I am Mexican person, but I was born and raised here in the United States as well as my parents and their parents. In fact, I have never been to Mexico.

What bothers me is that when I meet a person of Anglo descent (and other ethnicities, but mostly Anglo) they assume I speak only Spanish and begin speaking to me in Spanish when, in fact, I do not speak fluent Spanish. I'm not sure whether to interpret this as an honest attempt to communicate with no ill-intent or a bad assumption made on their part.

Also, when most, not all, people realize I am just as American as they are they say, "Oh, you are so different then those other Mexicans!", referring to the ones they see building houses, maintaining lawns or filling up lines at the neigborhood grocer rambling away in Spanish as if this "group" of Mexicans are second-class citizens and do not deserve respect.

I believe that many Hispanics experience this type of behavior.

What are your thoughts?

In terms of cost of living, people, climate, crime, career prospects! I prefer people who have lived in both places or visited both places to answer this question.

It is intended to hurt people, or make the speaker feel better than the person being talked about. Couldn't we live without?

I mean people run their mouths off before reading the additional details of the question and then they get the whole idea of the question wrong.

We have the memorial of Soweto day this Friday and whites are once again asked to apologise for what happened. The thing is I was only 4 years old when it happened. How long must I apologise for something I didn't do? Please no hate mail. Would genuinely like to have some helpful comments.

I read about and see the results of child abuse. I do not like the hotline system in my state. Children who should be removed permanently are reunified and later murdered. How can parents continually abuse and get away with it?
