Aphrodite wore a girdle as an erotic ornament, and would give it to her mortal lovers. This enchanted garment acted as a chain, ensnaring the lover and blinding him to all but her beauty.

Could anyone give more info on this myth?

I got the info from here: http://www.groundedheavens.com/mythpages/venus.html

I was playing poker (texhold) on a Sunday night. 666 came up on the flop. I was a little freaked. So I called my best friend (who plays a lot of cards) on the next night (Monday). I asked him how prevalent that is and If he thought it was a sign? We also talked about the new movie The Passion. Before he hung up he said "Don't worry about the sixes and go see the Passion." He(my BF last name was King, 32 Yrs old) unexpectedly died the next Sunday on 4-4-04. I was a pal bearer in by best friend's funeral on Wednesday. I went and saw the Passion in the theater on that Friday (Good Friday). Because of this circumstance I went about 4 months without playing cards. I finally decided to host a small card party at my house (6 people). The first hand dealt, I Had King 6,The flop came 666.
I still can't get it out of my mind. I'm not trying to tell a ghost story but feel that something bigger is at work.

The Jape of Odysseus
by
Terry

I thought one day, when I was young,
to fool the gods and have some fun.
I'd float a jape, up in a cloud,
and laugh at Zeus, and Hermes loud.

For years I worked, past wars and fame,
I offered wine, and put forth grain.
Then when I'd laid my trap to test,
I caught the knee, to play the jest.

The gods, some laughed, some giggled too.
Proud Hera smirked as if she knew.
But Chronos' son, he took it cold.
That very year, he left me old.

In Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet the monk gives Juliet an herbal potion which caused her to slip into a coma so deep that she was thought to be dead. From which herb is this tale derived?

In I think Book 2 of Paradise Lost, it talks about how Adam and Eve disobeyed God and how it was their choice. It also focuses on how Satan wants to make evil out of good.

Milton offers a solemn assurance that despite all Satan’s power and grandeur, the devil is still subject to God's purposes. How do these lines contribute a level of dramatic irony to Satan's ringing assertion of freedom in his final speech?

I don't really understand this and I would appreciate if someone can explain it to me. Thanks!

I have an ABC book project using Greek Mythology and I can not find a greek deity that starts with a Y. And this doesn't have to be a god, it can be anything that is in a greek myth.

I moved into a new house at the beginning of the month. The house is new and I have no feeling that the house is haunted, nor does anyone else. Its not my own animals as I only see it when my animals are inside. I don't think its another animal as I have a 6 foot privacy fence all around the back yard and there are few to no hiding spaces. I mostly see it in my backyard, and often close to the ground when I'm in my basement and not really moving fast enough for a bird. Whenever I go to see what it is, its not there.

Anyone have any ideas, I'm not sure If I explained it quite clearly, but the basics are smallish - medium size dog size to 10 year old child, moving semi-fast, not there when I look outside properly, black, I don't think its an animal.
