actually I'm more of a creature person so look into ants. They are nearly blind to the world and live in an entirely chemical society. Strangely enough the chemicals they follow are similar to the chemicals inside of your brain... but it is a semi perfect democracy that encounters dramatic social issues even pollution as leaf cutter ants actually use naturally occurring heat from rotting compost to fluctuate chemicals in the air that are possibly deadly to them.
