Aphrodite wore a girdle as an erotic ornament, and would give it to her mortal lovers. This enchanted garment acted as a chain, ensnaring the lover and blinding him to all but her beauty.

Could anyone give more info on this myth?

I got the info from here: http://www.groundedheavens.com/mythpages/venus.html

She didn't give it to her lovers, but sometimes she would let other goddesses borrow it. Also use google and look up Cestus.

Aphorodite's girdle was made for her by her husband, Goldsmith to the god's. She loaned the Girdle to Helen. This caused Paris to start the Trojan war for the love of Helen induced by the girdle. I have lots more Aphrodite stories. Try looking in Bulfinch's GreekMythology book. I so liked her that my BF and I gave our daughter Aphrodite as a middle name.
