I moved into a new house at the beginning of the month. The house is new and I have no feeling that the house is haunted, nor does anyone else. Its not my own animals as I only see it when my animals are inside. I don't think its another animal as I have a 6 foot privacy fence all around the back yard and there are few to no hiding spaces. I mostly see it in my backyard, and often close to the ground when I'm in my basement and not really moving fast enough for a bird. Whenever I go to see what it is, its not there.
Anyone have any ideas, I'm not sure If I explained it quite clearly, but the basics are smallish - medium size dog size to 10 year old child, moving semi-fast, not there when I look outside properly, black, I don't think its an animal.

It sounds very much like an animal energy or spirit. I had an (unpleasant) encounter with one, in our house, a few years ago. I would think if it's not causing any problems, don't worry about it. This webpage has more info on different types of energies and spirits:

Get a motion detector light and take a picture.I promise you it's nothing supernatural.

maybe its a child or an animal who died in that area and is attracted to it

get a wild game camera. they have motion detectors and will snap a photo of whatever it is.
