I have an ABC book project using Greek Mythology and I can not find a greek deity that starts with a Y. And this doesn't have to be a god, it can be anything that is in a greek myth.

The problem you are facing is that the Greek language does not have an equivalent letter to "Y" so that is why you haven't been able to find it.

Even one of the better resources online, www.theoi.com does not list one. (And the owner of that site has done his research)

You would need to make a stretch, but Ymir was a Norse giant that was brought down by Odin
The Titans were brought down by Zeus.

There is a bit of a parallel. As both could be said to be born of giants, Odin of Ymir and Zeus of Cronus who was large enough to hold all his children in his mouth.

I told you it would be a stretch.

Good grief, some Christians won't even let a direct question of pedagogy go by without inserting their rote rot. They are so sad and paranoid. as in the "answer" just below mine.

There are enough of them, but I only remember the deities named Yades -try googling them. Y in Greek has been mostly a vowel and today it is pronounced as ee at the beginning of words.

I cant think of any one that starts with Y in Greek but in Norse there is Ymir

In Norse mythology, Ymir is a giant who was the father of the frost giants. Odin helped to kill Ymir. Ymir's body then helped build the world with his blood drowning most of the frost giants.
Ymir is also known as Orgelmir.

after a quick glance through the indexes of a couple of my books I couldn't find anything. You need to go to you local library and look up a book called 'Bullfinches mythology" it has an alphabetical listing of all the major mythological gods and creatures and whatnot.
