There is this Lou Reed song that has a line that says:
"I'll take Manhattan in a garbage bag with Latin written on it that says it's hard to give a $#17 these days." I know it is a little off color, But I have always wanted to know how to actually say that in proper Latin. Any takers?

At first I thought it was Indo-European simply because all the other languages from Northern Europe are, but after looking at a copy of The Kalevala I'm starting to have my doubts.

If the word "Ihnen" can mean both "You" and "them" do Germans know what context you are using it in?

For instance apparently if you say "I gave them a gift" would be "Ich gab ihnen ein geschenk"... would a german know you were talking about "them" and not saying "I gave you a present" (formal)? how would they know? does it just depend on the context it is used in the story you are telling that they can know? i hope that makes sense

For people who learned English later in their life, what did it sound like before you learned it?

What do other languages sound like to you (supposing you do not already know them)?

For people who natively speak a language, how does an American attempting to speak that language sound? (What does the American accent sound like in foreign languages?)

So I want to go back to college and I strictly want to learn new languages. Nothing else. I'm focusing on studying Spanish -- but I want to learn about two to three more languages. I know that Latin- based languages [such as French and Italian] would be easy to pick up because of the influences on English and Spanish, but what about Norweigen? Or Japanese? Or Chinese? I just need some help deciding which langages I should learn, and which languages are the easiest to learn. Help me out! Thanks so much!
