There were many carts and horses on the Roman streets (roads). There were farmers in the Via Appia. There were old and young slaves in the streets. Where are the horses now? There are no(more) slaves now(adays).
"magni et parvi" could as well be "tall and small" but I think old and young is better here.
Via Appia is the name of that street and should not be translated
I think that slaves instead of servants is the better translation as the Romans really had slaves rather than servants

There were many carts/carriages on Roman roads.There were farmers on the Appian Way.There were tall and small servants/slaves in the streets. Where are the horses now? There aren't any servants/slaves nowadays.
