I really love French words - have been obsessed with them for say, 7-8 years. Though never made any efforts to learn it nor interacted with many French, I can understand many sentences and even read simple books.

I know how the pronunciations work in French - omitting last consonants, conjoining vowels and so many intricacies. The difference lies in knowing the rules and observing them. That's where I get pi-ssed off.

The French are staunch purists about their language and won't accept even a slight change in pronunciation. For a learner, that makes the task even more difficult and my main interest is to include French into my vocabulary which is EASIER minus the pronunciation.

All along I tried to be respectful towards the language by trying to be pure but I guess enough is enough. My objective is only to know the written language.

Now I decided to learn French by pronouncing it the AMERICAN way whether the Government of France like it or not I say F* them the Frenchies

Would you use it, do you think it will catch on? Any phrases you have made up?

Hi :) Recently I asked a question about possible translations for a tattoo in latin I was considering.

In English, the tattoo would read: "For wherever I may travel, my heart will be the path."

Several of you (dollhaus, moonlight roma, and martox45) were kind enough to provide me with some translations -thank you. However, the translations vary somewhat from each other, and I was wondering what the difference was. Are some translations in different styles of latin, or different dialects, or what?

The translations I got were:
"QUAMVIS UBICUMQUE PEREGRINARI POSSIM
COR MEUM LIMES ERIT
or also
QUAMVIS UBICUMQUE PEREGRINABOR
COR MEUM LIMES ERIT"

"fari quacumque ab at ambulo apud adytum arbitratus abeo abdera deerro."

"Cor meum via erit quocumque faciam iter."

Which of these translations is 'more accurate' so to speak, and what is the difference between them all?

I know "I" in German is "ich", in French is "Je", in Spanish is "Yo". But I don't know "Eo" belong to which language. Who can tell me?

If you don't know what am I talking about, please read this first:

'Ich.' Not a masterpiece of reassurance, is it? 'I' sounds nobly erect. 'Je" has a certain strength and intimacy. 'Eo' is okay. 'Yo' I can really relate to.....(quote from "Time's Arrow)

Maux nichs. Or maybe, mauchs nix. No wait, it could be, max niks.

Either way, the pronunciation is mocks nicks.

What does it mean?

Hard to fathom, but it really wasn't all that long ago that even a plain old telephone was a luxury item.
In this day and age, many folks need to be accessible
everywhere, whether they're at work or play, in the office or at
home.
