groovy could mean like good music you can "groove" [dance] to, or it canm mean cool or sweet or awesome. along the lines of that. it was used in the 60s/70s

Groovy comes from the grooves in a record. Originally, in the 40's in meant swinging, because they played lots of swing band type songs. "In the groove" meant up-to-date or with it.

In the 60's, "groovy" took on the meaning of "cool", but it usually had a drug connotation. "Heavy" always meant drugs, but had the same meaning.

Don't listen to people about not using it. Words come in and out of fashion. Use whatever words you want to use. Be yourself.

"Groovy" is a term from the 60's which meant excellent or stimulating, as in a groovy car or groovy music.

It's the way they said "cool" in the 60's. And before that, older people said "in the groove," referring to how the needles of old records stayed in their grooves. It meant that things were all right in the world.

like the grove on a record it goes round and round and round so when you were groovy you were quite fun to be AROUND

It means "cool." People don't use it much anymore, though, unless they are purposely wanting to evoke the 60s :-)

It's an outdated, quaint way of saying that something is fine.
PLEASE don't use it--it's no longer "cool".
