I grew up speaking English and Spanish. I want to learn a third language. I'm considering learning Portuguese, Italian, French or German. Which of these languages will I learn the quickest? I want to be able to speak with the locals when I go on vacation.

I get annoyed when I see a litany of moronic abbreviations like:
u for you, 2 for two, b-cuz for because, 4 for for, b4 for before, str8 for straight, and on and on. The list is endless. Sounds like giddy "val gal" talk to me. ... only one small step up from someone trying to type in "rap". Oh, how annoying!

Hey, I was just looking up some information on the Internationale Situationniste , and happened upon a graphic from their website that was in latng. Now, since the Internationale Situationniste put a rather strong emphasis on using aesthetics for cultural subversion, I found myself rather intrigued by the latin phrase upon the graphic. It is to my shame that I admit that I have taken latin courses in the past, though have been remiss in my studies, and am unable to figure out what, exactly, the Internationale Situationniste was attempting to say, beyond vague, heinously inaccurate conjectures on my part.

The phrase was: "in girum imus nocte et consumimur igni".

I thank you very kindly for any assistance that you may provide.

..... It's rather difficult for me,

The pronunciation comes natural to me, It's mainly the memorization that I have difficulty on.

I do study with a Spanish speaking family that lives below me every day....
They teach me Spanish,
And I teach them English,
My question is. . . . Is that how long would it take someone to learn Spanish & be able to speak it well ????

NOTE : I am a fast learner :)

I'm spanish and I am finishing my project to obtain my degree in the University. I'm developing a web application to store, catalogue and download other projects (a tool for new alumns).

To gain more points on the final mark, I'm preparing the application to be multilanguage. For the presentation in the presence of the court (University teachers) I'm preparing the application in Spanish and English.

I've tried to translate it into English and I'd like to look for English people who have time to check it and look for grammar and syntax errors (both).

Is there anybody here with enought time to correct it?

Excuse me if my English isn't so good.

I don't understand why they would have the command "Don't know!". Can anyone name an example of when you would use this? Remeber you are talking to a high school student here.

From summer sands to armageddon's reach

This is an Arabic greeting phrase, and I would like to know how to pronounce it. Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmat-Allahi wa barakaatuhu. Do you say the whole words, or are some parts silent? What English words, or syllables does each word sound like?
