I was able to find a place that tranlslated it, but when I tried to translate it BACK from Arabic to English, it read "Seed from the [[wwaa]] tree" instead. Because of the spelling of wawa and the bracketts around it, I'm not sure how accurate this is. Here is the exact translation given to me: بذرة من ال [ووا] شجرة

While learning English is a tough language in and of itself to learn, how do they deal with such phrases like Jumping Jahilliwades, applepandowdy, whatchamacallit, hiyamadoodle, thingamabob, poop digger, caddycorner, discombobulated, skeedattle, lickadeesplit, diddlyesquat, lacadaiscical, rambunchous, scalywags, rigamaroll, malarky, monkey paste, etc. etc. Some say that there or more than 250 of these types of off beat, not in the dictionary phrases.

"Es ist der Vorzug und das Wesen der Starken, dass sie die großen Entscheidungsfragen stellen und zu ihnen klar Stellung nehmen können. Die Schwachen müssen sich immer zwischen Alternativen entscheiden, die nicht die ihren sind."

This is a german quote a friend sent me... I had its translation but somehow lost it.. I know little german and can understand most of the words but can't really understand the whole sentence..

Thanks in advance...

In your opinion, what makes someone fluent in their 2nd..3rd....etc. language? Think about when you would consider someone fluent speaking English as well as if you were studying a foreign language.

I've taken Spanish all during school, and now it has been 4 years since I've graduated. I started picking it back up last year again, but not as much as I would have during school. Well especially since I don't use it everyday, it is hard to keep it in my head. I am half mexican, and I've always know some words, because my mom uses them. But my main question is: If I fell asleep with a cassette player or cd player that repeated spanish words or sayings followed by the translations all night long while I slept, for a few nights in a row, would I learn the language quicker than if I just tried learning a phrase a day? I mean is that possible like in the movies?

Why do people insist on using the word 'loose' when they mean 'lose'??? I see it happening everywhere! It drives me nuts! For anyone who wants to know: LOOSE is when your pants are loose, the rope is loose...lose is when you lose your job, lose your money....sheeesh!
