it's I, like the letter E and H like you read in the word ''hole''... it's "IH"

The descriptions for pronouncing it are okay.
There are two possibilities in German two pronounce "ch" and in the case of ich its not the same as in Bach!
People in and around Berlin say ick, in Saxony it's ish, but these are only regional accents.
And German is NOT a slavic language...

The "ch" is a slightly gargling sound, glottalized at the back of the mouth.

So it's neither "ick" nor "ish" but rather a throat-clearing noise. I'm searching my brain for some English word or some proper name that I can use as an example. Certainly there are Yiddishisms, but you might not be from New York.

Depends on the dialect of German.... from what I hear around here it is Ish or Ick, but the Ick version is more like the sound you make when you are immitating the hiss of a cat or so... Its hard to explain. I wouldn't worry about it though... it all depends on where you live in Gemany how it will sound... it sounds very different in Frankfurt compared to how it sounds in Dusseldorf.

German is very phonetic, and you also must remember it is slavic. ICH is not pronounced "ick" or "ish." It is pronounced ICH. Just sound it out, and use a soft "c" sound.

neither, but I would say the closest is "ish".
That 'ch' in ich is a sound that English speaking (and most likely other nations as well) don't have, so it is very hard to explain. it takes a lot of exercise, lol.
by the way - I love the sound of English speaking people when they talk German (or at least try to)

well people who dont naturally speak german find this difficult and say ish but the real sound is actually made in the back of your throat like your about to hock a loogie, or you have a hoarse throat you know? Ichhhh, like ikh... hope it helps XD

Either way. If you want to say it like a Berliner, say "ick", if you want to say it like how many other germans say it, say "ish".

Actually, both variants are acceptable.

in 'Hoch-Deutsch' or very good German people would say "Ick", in some lands peolpe say "ish" and it is some sort of dialekt.
