I've taken Spanish all during school, and now it has been 4 years since I've graduated. I started picking it back up last year again, but not as much as I would have during school. Well especially since I don't use it everyday, it is hard to keep it in my head. I am half mexican, and I've always know some words, because my mom uses them. But my main question is: If I fell asleep with a cassette player or cd player that repeated spanish words or sayings followed by the translations all night long while I slept, for a few nights in a row, would I learn the language quicker than if I just tried learning a phrase a day? I mean is that possible like in the movies?

There are so many dialects for spanish, but one movie for the dialect that I'm learning is: Maria Full of Grace. That is a good movie by the way.

I'm always using spanish to command my 2 year old, and I taught him the names of his facial features. So far this is all good advice, thanks!

P.S. My mom is rusty on her spanish. She sometimes has to use it at her work. But when we go to a mexican restaurant, I definitely try to use it there.

YES! definetly!! especially the younger you are the more capable you brain is intuned to asborbing more and more info, either being general infor or new languages or even mathematical calculations...all while you sleep!

im telling you this from personal experience. my dad tells me that sometimes when he leaves work and has a big problem to calculate the next that wasnt solved the day before, when he falls asleep thinking about it, he wakes up the next morning knowing the solution, he tells me while in his sleep its like his brain goes to work on its own and the next morning, the answer is right in front of him.

also, another example. im from the states, but im currently studying in italy. its been a long since ive been here but ive read, watched, talked the language every single day. i speak it fluently now, but i notice OFTEN, that sometimes when im in the middle of some conversation, words pop up in what i say, and i dont even know what on earth they mean..! i had no idea how on earth i came up with using or saying that complex word, but i used it and i ask my bf, 'did i use it rigth?' and he says, 'yeah, never heard you say it before'...

i think simply while asleep, while your unconcious, your brain analyzes from words you hear adn listen and program it in your 'brain database' and puts it in for you to use when you unconciously KNOW how to use it.

go for it! sleep away listening to words, the next morning youll know more than you expected!

No. There is no evidence that subliminal messages actually work.

Psychological tests have been conducted and all showed that no significant improvement was seen in any subject who was given a tape with any type of message.

Sorry. The best way would probably be to practice with others, watch shows in Spanish and otherwise be around Spanish speaking people.

Pray to God regularly whilst making an attempt, as God is helping individuals who aid themselves as a substitute than people who are lazy. Lord Krisna stated in Bhagavad Gita, we ought to bring out our works and resign the fruit of our motion. So we have to maintain making an attempt and uncover pleasure in doing our paintings, whether or not or no longer we get the preferred outcomes. We must no longer lose wish. Do your excellent and depart the leisure to God,it is going to all come correct a few day or night time.

put Spanish subtitles under movies and repeat them as you hear the english language, you get used to the spanish and soo understand them. and start using spanish more. Use Spanish words in replacement of english.
Instead of Hello: Hola
Instead of one or two: uno, dos:)

I think you should try talking spanish ONLY with your mom everyday. You'll pick it up faster the more you use it.

I don't think the cassette method will work, but try it and see.

That way of learning is called "osmosis" and I honestly don't know if there's any truth in it or not. What I would suggest is that you at least try it. It coudn't hurt, right? If it doesn't work, find another method. Good luck!

I don't think so... I used to do that for my English, but I got nothing. Youre just fallin asleep, that means ur brain's NOT morking for memorize or anything. You might get some rhythm, but not vocabs or grammers.... watch movies or talk to ur mom instead.

If life was this simple we would all be intelligent. If you want to learn something you have to make it your own. Create it as if it never existed before. That’s is the true secret of masters and genius.

You have to give a crap.

it would probably work because your mind is still absorbing information as you sleep. have you ever fallen asleep with the TV on and subsequently had the things happening on the TV incorporated into your dream? well, i have. you might subconsciously pick it up, or, some of it at least.
