I want to learn a second language, but I am not sure which one. Which would I have better success at? Which is the most like English?

The grammar of german is near of english grammar. The both languages have the same origin.
French is a latin language so maybe it's more difficult for people who speaks english.
But it's a very beautiful language (it's my language I'm franch! :) ) and if you talk french, you can understand a little italian, spanish, rumanian...because they are too latin languages...
But I learned german and I like this language and german people are nice!
I mean you must learn french because the german people speaks very well english but we are very very bad with the another languages... :)

I've studied both & found French far easier than German as regards to grammar but German is very slightly easier for English-speaking people to pronounce. I've also studied Spanish & found that easier than both German & French.

French is easier to learn than German. Spanish is more widely used in the US.

I think German is difficult, because the words are totaly different, and the grammar is particular (with derivation or I don't know what, like in Latin).
Spanish is a good language to learn if you like to travel, many countries spenks spanish
For me, French is easy, but I'm french, so I'm cheating ;o)

i would say german is easier to pronounce... but it depends on what language u like better. If you like romantic, posh, elegant languages, i'd suggest u go for french. Do what you like better. No point doing a language u dont enjoy.

It's based on preference. For me it was french.
