Also curious if you consider fluent knowledge of "trade" vocabulary (for example medical, scientific, or computer programming language) to be proficiency in another "language". Finally, where do you live?

Hey guys, i posted a response to someone that needed help with english conversation and she contacted me which was surprising. it's like a message board thingy and people from my city post needing help or offering help or services. So we're going to meet and i'm going to help with conversation. However, the thing i'm worried about is that since i'm not good at conversation myself, how can i teach it? i mean, i don't have friends, i ialmost never talk..But i still would be able to help a foreigner. The thing is that, this foreigner girl in her writing seems like she commands the english language much better than me. so, is it even worth it..should i just tell her NO ican't cause i suck? or should i go through with it and see what happens

Regale us with your stories at their expense...

Just today I had the pleasure to meet the wife of one of my students. After polite greetings, the student and I went into his office to commence lessons. Wanting to ask what I thought of his wife, he sat down at his desk, folded his hands together and said, 'So, did you pleasure my wife?'

There are plenty of examples like this but this one was recent and especially hilarious. Any you'd care to share (under condition of anonymity)?

A business communication from Britain says: “We will ACTION your request/ instructions” meaning “we will act according to or carry out your request/ instruction”.

I find the word “Action” in this context very odd.

And I am not quite satisfied with the alternatives I have suggested.

If I make a request or give you some instructions, how will you say in chaste English that you will carry out my instructions or you will act according to it? Please note that my requests / instructions are acceptable to you.
