'Hi' in Japanese could be 'Yaa', although I've never heard anyone say it, despite living in Japan..! That doesn't mean they DON'T say it though.. just that I don't HEAR them!

I suspect that it's extremely informal though, which would explain why I've never heard it!
Good morning is Ohayou Gozaimasu! (Or, informally, Ohayou!)
Good afternoon is Konnichiwa (literally 'this day...' but it's the equivalent of good afternoon! You can use it from about 10 a.m. onwards, until early evening.)
Good Evening is Konbanwa (literally 'this evening ...')

ok i am half Japanese so i know this one lol. good morning is usually: Ohayou Gozaimasu. hi and good afternoon are usually the same: Konnichiwa . Good evening is Konbanwa. hope that helped!
