I'm from Canada and this will be my first American Thanksgiving celebration ever ( I'm so excited about it, Sweetie's Momma is making sweet potato pie and and candied yams and collared greens and everything!!! )! Up north we drink a bit of beer for our Thanksgiving but never more than a keg or two each, after all we have to be socially responsible; we still have to drive our dog sleds homes after the party! I don't want to offend anyone so is it cool to drink from the keg at dinner or should I just fill up a couple of tankards and cool it till after supper is done? Thanks in advance for the help and I hope all of You Americanos have a great Thanksgiving Too!!!

I already make a great pumpkin pie in fact, my family requests it every thanksgiving. This year I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and, I need to know how much sweetner it takes to replace for every cup of sugar that I would normally put in. can anyone help with this please? Also, can you tell me what else I could sweeten it with that would be okay for me to have.

The Turkey popped out of the oven
and rocketed in to the air;
It knocked every plate off the table
and partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner
and burst with a deafening boom,
Then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and the windows,
it totally coated the floor,
There was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there had never been turkey before..
It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl;
There wasn't a way I could stop it;
that turkey was out of control.
I scraped and I scraped with displeasure
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
That I would never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

~~~ HAPPY THANKSGIVING ~~~
I have never cooked a ham before, but want to make sure that i don't leave a step out. I have been reading different recipes. Do I have to trim the fat off of the precooked ham? How long should I keep it in the oven and what degrees? Is it necessary to slit diamond shapes in the ham? Is it necessary to remove the bone and if so how do you do it?
Thanksgiving this year will be my father and myself. I'm a vegitarian, also need to keep away from starches & carbs. My father is elderly, stuck in his ways, and wants the traditional turkey dinner. But turkeys are huge, & he would be the only one, ever, eating it (& all the side dishes). And I would have to cook it. Aside from grossing out over having to handle this poor dead bird, the smell of turkey always made me kinda queasy. He won't go to a real restaurant (where there is a choice of food for both of us) . He says he can go to Boston market & said I could go with him,. That place has nothing but starch and meat & is kind of pathetic for thanksgiving. In the past, we had meat-eating family over who helped with the turkey (the prep & eating), while I had Indian food. We also went to other family dinners. Any suggestions for a solution?
Thanksgiving is usally celebrated on the last thursday of november each year. Based on this I thought that it should be celebrated on the 30th of November, 2006. But the holidays are on the 23rd this year. Can anyone who has a good knowledge on US cultures please tell me why this is so?
Where can I find a complete listing of what retailers, like BestBuy and Office Depot, sell on thanksgiving day? I remember that last year I found a website that had ALL retailers, all items that would be sold, the quantities, and the prices.
I do not want to go to their websites one by one you know
Thank you!
I love Thanksgiving! It's like Christmas without the pressure of gifts. My favorite thing my family does is "play games all sorts"---which means we just play all sorts of board games and laugh at everything in the game.
I know I have done it, my mom took me since I was like 4/5 and actually taught me and my brother to steal from carts and cut people off. Just wondering if I am abnormal and if anyone else enjoys the madness. Picture a 5 year old girl playing tug of war with a 30yr old over a toy!( I am an aries if that explains anything)
