Do what I do. In a loud German accent yell. OUT OUT OUT! If that seems to crude get them playing some games or watch football or a good movie. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I hate that too! I cant stand for people to be in the kitchen when Im cooking. Tell everyone to stay out because you need all the space you can get in the kitchen I suggest having them all go into the living room to watch a football game or something as for having little kids over I suggest some arts and crafts to keep them out of you hair. Or instead of watching tv they can play card games or board games.

Well, they want to be with you, and offer help too. Be nice to them, don't yell. Have little things for them to do, set up already in another area. Tell them how much you appreciate their help. Maybe you can have the ingredients ready for things like ambrosia salad, and have it ready to combine at a bar or your unset dining table. Then have dishes stacked for your next helpful family member, and get them busy setting the table. You can find lots to have ready for willing hands. If you do a bit of prep yourself, it will be just as you want it.

Personally, I like getting folks involved in helping with it. Not for the help, for the comradery. Some of the best parties end up in the kitchen.

You definitely need JOBS for people to do -- if the reason they are in the kitchen is that they want to help. If they are in there to get food or drinks, move the food and drinks to the dining room.

Maybe have some board games out in the living room/dining area.
Maybe they can put up the tree in the other room while you cook.
Pop in a movie.
Harsh language but... you want them to stay.

Tell them that hidden in the living room is a surprize and the first person that finds it gets 100 dollars! Just don't leave anything for them to find!!! LOL

Why not set up a jigsaw puzzle on a table by a cozy fireplace!
