The Pilgrims came over to this country. The first year they were here they had a feast and thanked God for His blessings in the new land. Being thankful for our harvest and for our blessings, just like they did that first Thanksgiving. However, we have a lot more to eat.

Since I'm from a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, the answers I can give you are based on what I have read, and learned through various mediums. Thanksgiving is celebrated in the United States to comemorate the pilgrimage to the new land (America). One of the most significant or notable in its history is the Mayflower, the ship bearing the lives of the pilgrim who crossed the vast waters of the ocean to finally land safely on the shores of America. This day is considered the anniversary of that safe journey bringing in the first of the pilgrims to a land of the far west. I hope that helped a bit, but you can always try googling the Mayflower for more ideas.

It is the day set aside as a Nation to not only acknowledge our Creator but to express our gratitude to him for the many blessings we enjoy as freedom loving, blessed and prosperous people. You know, just as those who first came to this land did. Thank you Father God!
