how do you feel about people saying merry christmas to you instead of happy holidays. Reason being because there used to be controversy over it because chrismas had the word christ in it.

Today I did! Ive been so ready for Christmas, and its a tradition of my familys to put a tree up the day after thanksgiving.
Nothing more pretty than a tree with soft glowing lights & ornaments, presents galore, with soft christmas Tunes playing.

I understand that for years it's been a point of contention in winter holiday-related advertisements, but last year, I had some people get visibly angry at me when I wished them happy holidays.
I just don't see where all the harsh sentiment comes from. I'm wishing them well, and they apparently assume I'm trying to undermine Christianity. Can someone help me understand this?
