I always put Brandy over my Christmas cake once it's cooked, and as soon as it comes out of the oven.[That's if you're on about alcohol]
Ingredient wise,the usual,currants,sultanas,mixed peel,cherries and mixed spice.
If you don't like cherries, try replacing them with dried apricots,as these will help to moisten the cake.

in olden times they baked a cake and put a ring into the cake. whoever got the piece of cake with the ring could give it to their favorite person of the opposite gender or keep it for themselves.

Brandy, turn your cakes upside down, prick gently with an old knitting needle or small knife then drizzle a nice drop of brandy in, makes it lovely and moist.
