organise something fun for your family to do at christmas (instead of the usual tv etc) try lots of fun games (look on the web) and have a sing song

Try to get your family to perk up. Maybe you can suggest a Christmas party where you all play "dirty santa", it is not dirty. Everyone brings a gift that will work for any age group, man or woman (the kids get regular gifts). Each person gets a number. The person with #1 picks a present first, and unwraps it . The person with #2 can either steal #1's present or open a different one. # 3 can steal an open present or open another, so on and so on. It will make them laugh, especially if there is a lot of stealing going on.
If that idea doesn't work for you, visit a local church or two and find out what Christmas parties they are planning. Join in, if you want friends, you may have to be friendly first, and just join in.

you're not alone, i'm sure. christmas can be really tough on people, especially with the media portraying it as the "ideal" situation, adding to the stress that your personal situation may be less than ideal.

perhaps you can join a sport league, a gym, a volunteer group, a reading library, become a coach for kids, etc...and get you out into the public eye, where you will make some new friends and hopefully generate some interesting holiday time activities.

last thought: become a big brother/big sister donor, and help make the holiday special for some child much less fortunate than you. it will give you a good focus, and you can take pride in the fact that you are doing something to help make the world better, even if just one person at a time. plus, it will provide you with positive outlook, something to look forward to, and good memories.

Check out local charity events.
Do something you like - go for a hike, watch a movie, check out some books. Whatever works for you!

Meet new friends. Join a club. Go to church. Strike up a conversation at the library or your favorite store.

Keep looking!

I say surround yourself with your family- sure they may be boring BUT they r the only family u will ever have! Enjoy them now while u can! Or u can just sit in a pool of self pity- but think how awful that will be?

Take it one day and step at a time. Your family may be boring but that is better than no family at all. Don't look at the glass as half empty. Try seeing it as half full.
