I know you light the Menorah. But when and what words do you speak? Do you speak words for each candle that i s lit up? I know the Menorah is lighted up from the right to the left? I know that you celebrate it with Bread and wine. I know of gift giving. But what are the actual Hebrew words? thanks. I would like to learn more.

Hubby is 26. Most of his interests are electronic things like video games and stuff, and I would like to give him something more meaningful than a video game. He shops for clothes at thrift stores, he is practical and frugal, he's a bit "emo" in his style of dress, but usually just a black t-shirt and jeans when he's not at work (wears dress shirt and tie to work). Loves music. Guys, what would YOU want if you were him? I want to give something personal and maybe handmade.

Not being a gift-person myself, I'm not always great at choosing gifts unless I ask the person what they want. But that takes away all the fun. Does anyone know a website that helps you find the perfect gift for someone, using different categories to narrow it down or something? I used to know one but haven't been able to find it.

I happen to be Atheist so the holiday holds no spiritual significance to me, but that's not even the real reason I want to stop celebrating Christmas. I think it teaches people wrong things. I teaches them to be materialistic and greedy, it turns gift giving (supposed to be a from the heart act of kindness) into an obligation, and on the flip side, receiving them an expectation or entitlement just because.
Needless to say these are not values I want my son to be initiated into.

I always remember growing up how my peers would always ask me what I got for Christmas, and we would start listing off our inventory.

Do you think my son will feel like an outcast when this day comes and all he can say is we don't really celebrate Christmas?

Do you have any suggestions on how we can still celebrate Christmas without teaching him bad ideas?

Don't get me wrong, I love the season... snowmen, sleigh rides, santa claus, etc... just not the shopping malls. :/

Help! I have a christmas budget of less than $100 and 10 people to give gifts to.

Not a rich person, in the past I did chili kits (in cool cooking pots), buried treasure plants (the plants were decorated and gift cards were buried in the pot, was cool) and last year just little gift baskets from the theme park I worked at. I am out of ideas.

Here is my list of folks (just so you see who is who)...

My in-laws -They have literally everything and this year especially helped financially a lot. PS they hate 'crafts'

My mom -She has had a rough year and first holiday with an empty nest.

My sister -Her family includes her husband and three small boys (4,6,9) . Honestly, this has probably been the worst year ever for them. I usually give them a gift all together.

Little brother #1- He is set and has little use for the usual types of gifts (colgne, shavers, small checks or gift cards).

Little brother #2- He moved out of the house this year, want to give him something cool

Over the years, I've given her -- jewelry, housewares, money, and in recent years, started theme-giving. Last year, I wanted to bring her up-to-date with technology, so I gave her a cordless phone, portable DVD player and such. This year, I'm out of ideas -- I make sure to spend quality time with her throughout the year. When she asks for favors, I do them -- I still strive to make her proud ... So, here I am -- racking my brain on what to get her. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone? Because I have found no mention of it anywhere on the site, yet it is a wonderful Swedish holiday. I just want to know who else celebrates it, and if you do, I would love some stories!
