It's always been Merry Christmas to me, I still live in America, and I still have the freedom to speech. Any one that greets you with happy holidays needs to slow down and enjoy life, instead of covering all the holidays in one meeting/greeting.
Happy Thanksgiving.

While the social engineers have done a good job of ridding the Christmas holiday of any of it's religious meaning, it is still recognized as a stat holiday in most countries and I don't hear any of the non-Christians or atheists bitching about the getting the day off. I figure saying "Merry Christmas" isn't such a bad thing for anyone to say since many people benefit from this holiday. While I don't get upset at 'happy holidays' I'm not particularly impressed with terms like 'holiday' party or 'holiday' tree, those statements are just silly.

I celebrate Christmas and like it to be recognized. I usually ask what someone celebrates and then wish them a Merry Christmas or Happy Chanuka. But Christmas is the celebration that commemorates the birth of Christ first and I think that those who celebrate it should understand that.

I get offended when people say merry christmas to me because I am Jewish, and its not the whole I am Jewish thing, but its the fact that people are so ignorant. I mean, in the USA majority of people celebrate christmas, but out of the wntire world, the % of people celebrating Christmas is low, so it is offensive to people who do not celebrate it, it assumes that all people celebrate that holiday, I mean, on Hanukah you don't hear Happy Hanukah, or Happy Pesach, or Happy Kwanza, or Happy Ramadan, get the idea? So why Christmas, there are other faiths and other holidays out there as well. It is lack of respesct, so, Happy Hoildays is perfect. Happy Holidays!

Its Christmas, if you don't celebrate it fine, but there is no need to take it away from those who do celebrate it. Lately in Toronto and the GTA there has been a lot of this holiday stuff instead of Christmas like holiday concerts instead Christmas concerts or holiday lights instead of Christmas lights but finally it is getting back to the way it should be. People are just learning to accept that it is Christmas whether you celebrate it or not.

Once, I went to a store and bought Hanukkah supplies and the clerk who checked me out said, "Merry Christmas!" To be honest, it ticked me off. If the greeting is said sincerely and someone doesn't realize I celebrate Hanukkah, that's one thing, but this was different.
This is why I think that, unless you know FOR SURE what holiday someone celebrates, the term "Happy Holidays!" should be used, as it applies to EVERYONE.

i think if you are going to get that wound up over something such as merry christmas you need to go to an island and live all by yourself because chances are you are a miserable human being and are making everyone around you miserable as well.
