I have learned the hard way about debt. I don't use credit cards because my philosophy is that if I don't have the money to make the purchase, I will either save towards it or not buy it at all. I refuse to go into debt to buy Christmas presents. I have learned to prioritize. I make a small list of individuals & take the time to look for inexpensive useful gifts. I try not to wait until the last minute because that is when I usually feel rushed & pressured & pick up things that are too expensive because I "have to get something". Planning helps a great deal with avoidance of debt.

No, We don't exchange presents. We all buy something small for my nieces and nephews, but that's it. I told my family years ago I wanted to stop exchanging gifts and we've all enjoyed the holidays more since then.
I think people tend to get too caught up in the gift giving and forget what the holiday is all about. Now I have more time to enjoy the holiday and am much less stressed out about my budget

Every year I always put myself and family on a budget. I allow $500 for me and hubby and my 16 year old son gets $250 to spend on friends and family. Once thats gone- ummmmmmm we r done shopping! Okay I have to admit- I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS go way over my limit- but I cant help it- I love to see the their faces when they open their gifts!

,No, I never have and never will. I think it's absolutely ridiculous how people will go into debt and buy all these expensive things that children want and teenagers, demand. Until children and teens grow up and realize how much it costs just to live from day to day they will think more of what things cost.

Unfortunately most people do including me and I know that is not what christmas is all about. It should be about spending time with the ones you love and celebrating the birth of Christ.
