I know that most think that it is impersonal, and I never do this, but this year I am on a limit with my money since my baby is due around this time, and living on the other side of the US, it is much cheaper to send cards, then packages. I have three sisters, and yes, I all ready told them that they are getting gift cards, they are cool with the idea, but how much do I put on the cards... There is a 6, 10, and 17 year old. What is a reasonable price and why? Thanks for the help!!!

When some kids parents can't afford to buy them a lot of presents? And they see other kids getting more stuff, regardless of how good or bad either behaves. Isn't this sending the wrong message?

I know this may sound extravagant to some but this will be his 'main' xmas present (Cheaper than an xbox 360!). Men/boys what would you have prefered?

Okay, my aunt always makes my grandfather be Santa Clause and me nothing. But this time, she told me if I could help and showed me my costume. The problem: it's really revealing, the top looks like a bra and the skirt is very short. She told me I had the body though. So, what should I do?

My aunt is starting her own business. She is in her 50s. Through her business, she will travel to homes of the elderly and help them with misc. tasks around the house, giving them medicine, making meals, etc... I think she said she will also babysit for younger couples trying to make ends meet....

I am trying to think of a gift to give her, in relation to her new job! It needs to be somewhat inexpensive because I am a poor college student! :)

THANKS!!

I've been dating a 35 years-old guy on and off for about 8 months. I'm thinking about getting him a Ralph Lauren wallet (about $150 worth), since a wallet is something he might need. Since he is in his 30's, I feel like I cannot give him something too cheap. Do you think I'm spending too much or too little? What other gift ideas do you have? What is appropriate in my case?

I can't think of the perfect gift for my boyfriend. He likes things that are personal and mean something. So I am thinking along the lines of something that I can make or buy that has something significant about it. Any suggestions?

Please don't give me a bunch of grief for hating Christmas. I am a Christian who detests the holiday for the commercial/retail event it has become. I really DO want to enjoy Christmas, so help me if you can! I am happily married with young children, and I'm being a total drag for my family.

I feel like Christmas is the season of "should" and "have to." I see people buying each other gifts out of obligation. I see privileged children getting more, more, more and not appreciating it while I know there are hungry and cold kids out there. I see people wearing themselves out shopping and baking because they feel like they have to. We decorate our homes, and go to parties, and perform gift exchanges at work with people we may or may not even like.

I hardly see any Christ left in Christmas, and it's making me very sad. I've read articles that say slow down and don't do and spend so much. That would be fine, but what about my extended family who insists on doing gifts and getting together?

How does your family handle Christmas presents for nieces/nephews when there are several of them? How do you think it should be handled? My family has a lot of nieces and nephews and we aren't sure what to do about this. Is it being cheap to not want to spend $20-25 per child? That get expensive. What about the aunts and uncles who don't have kids? Should they have to give gifts, too? How does your large family handle this or how do you think we should?

I am just curious, would you send out christmas cards or not?

And if you do, would you just sign: Jones Family.?

I think they would just throw them away. What do you think the post office does with all these letters?

Looking for some ideas...I've already done Gifts in a Jar and knitted scarves last year. Age range I'm looking at: two college students, a high schooler, and grandparents.

I told my friend that I will pray for everyone and their families that are dear to me for health, happiness, and good will.

She just laughed and said, that is not a gift. They need presents.

Your thoughts?
