Thanks, everybody. It went in an unlikely box, a very sturdy one so it's less obvious where the weight is, and got loads of newspaper crammed in with it so it won't rattle around.

I STILL think it might be a little book-in-disguise, but no mind.

put in a diifrent box like in a playstation box or a tv box or a pizza box j/k about that one

Hide the gift-wrapped box somewhere.

Give a cheap, fun, decoy "gift" with a note telling where to look for the real gift.

Put it in a shirt box and stuff tissue paper around it so that it will not shake.

Put some crumpled paper in it to make it look fat and puffy and wrap it.

put it in a larger box with plenty of paper so it doesn't move around when shaken.. we all shake presents.. :-)
