When i metioned putting the christmas tree up mum groaned and then i asked "mum what's wrong?" and she said" I'm not feeling the christmas spirit" i do not understand why my mum could not enjoy christmas who could not enjoy christmas?

When i was little we would go to grandma house, and there is always that one uncile or aunt and there family (which were the well off family), that dont give anyone anything to anyone but they expect something though, i seen that over the years growing up. Now since i am older and can afford now to give something more in return, should I give the ones who did not give anything before ... something???? or am I Being a bad person???

I mean really. This is getting ridiculous. Christmas has been about "stuff" now for decades. Isn't anybody else getting sick of this? Plus there's the stress of having to shop for people at Christmas, the expectations, and everything else. Why can't we just have all the rest of it without presents?

Instead of trees, presents or candles they have, as usual, cartoon characters from a current film whose makers have obviously paid a lot to cynically turn jolly decorations into high-profile advertising. Slimy, uncuddly rats, frogs and slugs from 'Flushed Away' certainly do not evoke any warm seasonal feelings in me. Does anyone remember when the Regent St lights were actually Christmassy?
