I am not sure how old your mom is. But I always give my mom three gifts, (just like my kids, because that is what Jesus was given). I like to 1. get her something that helps her around the house. She has Rheumatoid Arthritis, so for example, I have given her in the past a "Gopher" claw that reaches and grabs things for her, various kitchen aides like jar openers and such. 2. get her something nostalgic, like framed pictures of us and our families, a completed scrapbook in honor of her, or something that brings back good memories. 3. I then like to get her something that pampers her, like a foot bath message, or gift certs to a salon, or great bath stuff and candles.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

I don't know what your mom likes, so bear with me. A voucher for the hair-dresser, or beauty salon. Necklace with a heart, or her initial. item of clothing that you know she likes, but wouldn't want to spend the money on it herself. Buy a basket, decorate it with a ribbon and put luxury items in, like her favorite chocolates, wine, perfume, whatever she likes. Take her out for Christmas dinner.
