Instead of trees, presents or candles they have, as usual, cartoon characters from a current film whose makers have obviously paid a lot to cynically turn jolly decorations into high-profile advertising. Slimy, uncuddly rats, frogs and slugs from 'Flushed Away' certainly do not evoke any warm seasonal feelings in me. Does anyone remember when the Regent St lights were actually Christmassy?

Its been a long time since Regent St and Oxford St had any decent lights. They should take a lesson from St Christophers Place, up by Selfridges. they always do fantastic lights.
Do you remember the lasers that went down Oxford Street, back in the 70's?

Unfortunately I don't remember Regent Street lights being at all Christmassy. This year it's flushed away. The previous 2 years it was Ice age and before that it was something else Disney. I think they just get paid so much by the film companies to put them up that they can afford to run them. I try to avoid Regent Street at Christmas anyway because the crowds are so horrendous especially outside Hamleys which is totally overrated.

Weird. I've never been there but that doesn't sound festive at all.
