Decide together how much you want to spend because you don't want to look cheap but you don't want to spend 10x more either. So decide on a price limit and then go over that just a little so you look sweet! The best thing you could give her with or without anything else would be a sweet handwritten card (be sure to write a lot because girls really like that!) Also you can ask one of her friends to help you because then you can know for sure if it something she will like, plus girls tell each other everything so she will know you are trying hard and will really love that you are putting that effort in!

A day at the spa is great followed by a nice dinner with flowers and jewelry. Are just one or two of the above. It is also nice to receive something to remember your first Christmas together, maybe a Christmas ornament, snow globe or music box.

Get a 79 cent composition notebook. Write as much as you can and express your feelings toward her and how much you truly love her and how you would be lost without her. It says more than what money can buy. What's nice about this idea is that it shows you set aside time for her when you could have been doing something else. It's also cheap. I mean 79 cents :)

Anything considered a "luxury."

1. Find out from her friends the name of her favorite perfume, then go to a department store and ask for that or something that smells similar to it. (Sometimes companies stop making it).

2. A small box of specialty chocolates (note SMALL, so they are treated as a luxury not like a bag-o-halloween Hersheys) such as Godiva chocolates. (Not the chewy, waxy, cheapo kind you get at WalMart/Walgreens/K-Mart).

3. A nice pair of unlined calfskin or leather gloves (you'll need to take a look at her hands, put them up to yours and find out how narrower and shorter her fingers are than your hand, then remember that when you shop). Get brown or black, depending on the color jacket/coat that she may have.

4. A coupon for a massage at a spa.

5. Jewelry--though you have to get 10K gold or better (nothing sterling or gold filled, it looks cheesy/cheap).

>>>6. Have you considered an engagement ring ????<<<

HOWEVER , if you are short on cash, tho, you can make it "fun" by making up your "own" gift certificates book. Draw them out on construction paper, put glitter on them, staple, and then wrap it up in a box Eg. "Dinner date to your favorite restaurant," "Movie date, you choose," (means you can't gripe about a chick-flick) "Massage and a glass of wine" "Free gas refill" (trust me, women HATE to do this) "Free subscription to magazine of your choice. " Along with a nice Christmas card, she'd be thrilled.

Can't go wrong with the basics, sented candles, flowers, diamonds, romantic dinner and tell her what she means to you. This way it leaves the price range open to be as $ or $$$$$$$ as you want and still feel good about yourself in the morning.
